Word has come down from Edward James Olmos (Admiral Adama) recently that, indeed, Battlestar Galactica will end after its fourth (next) season. This should be of not much surprise to many fans of the show, since the New York Post made mention of the high probability of this scenario back in March. I also seem to recall creator Ron Moore making mention of this in one of his podcasts.Again, I applaud Moore and anyone else responsible for such a decision, as the series can be cleanly wrapped up in a way that will make it enjoyable to watch repeatedly for generations, unlike the other crap out there that has no idea when to call it quits. Thankfully Lost has made a similar decision, and hopefully its quality will improve as a result (with the exception of the latest episode, it's been a crappy season for Lost).
(UPDATE: For all you naysayers and doubters, here's the proof that should settle this now. And I took out the question mark from the title because of it.)

Are you kidding me, crappy season of Lost? Its light years beyond last season, and the answers we've gotten, albeit usually topped with greater questions, have been numerous.
And those greater questions is what keeps the show going. Without the WTF factor, Lost just isn't Lost.
We know about Dharma, its fate, who the Hostiles are, who Ben is, the Others community and inner workings, hierarchy, who they answer to, their inability to control the Smoke Monster, Locke's dad being the original Sawyer, I could go on and on. There's always going to be questions unanswered up until the show ends, just ride the ride and stop criticizing something that is so good and so imaginative...

I would say that the first 8-9 episodes of Lost were slightly off, until Desmond's flashback. Since then it's been better than any other season. OF Course the Nikki and Paolo thing was a mess but all the Dharma and Naomi stuff makes it all a distant memory. And seriously, if you rewatch the season like I have it flows a lot better than it initially did.

I think 4 seasons, plus two 2-hour movies/miniseries is good enough, especially considering the fact that the seasons are usually 20+ episodes.
It has been a wonderful show, and hopefully they go out with a bang.

Not surprise about the news. But it will be sad to see it go. Hopefully the Caprica prequel spinoff will happen so we won't completely say goodbye to that universe.
As for your Lost remark, I actually have loved this season. Yes, the first six episodes were shaky at best, but since then (save maybe 1-2 episodes) it's been pretty amazing.

Thanks Borat. And, I know this is supposed to be about BSG, Keith is so wrong about Lost. I was talking to a friend today and we both said we were amazed at how incredible this season has been.

I don't comment about Lost anymore because I stopped watching the show after the 2nd season...I'll probably watch it in full once the whole show comes out on DVD...shows like that don't do so well with a one-episode-per-week format.

Olmos came out and said that it's the last season, if he think it is than it is. I read it earlier and was glad it was soon and it wans't being dragged out, like Lost is.

Eick says it's not over but its strange that both Olmos and Katee Sackhoff believe it's the end. A lot of people connected with the show seem to be taking on other projects too.

Keith, don't even mention shows you don't cover. You're the worst and most ignorant blogger on this site.
Stick with BSG comments, you don't look too stupid doing that.

The first half of this season of LOST sucked pretty hard.
However, the last nine or so episode have gotten increasingly better. "The Brig" was one of the best episodes of the entire series. They'll get back in their groove. I'm sure of it.
Onto BSG. I don't know how I feel. I don't want them to go off the air. Not even one bit. However, if Kara can truly lead them to Earth, it's going to happen in Season Four, and I don't know what they're going to do after they arrive at Earth.
As much as I'd love for one of my favorite shows on television to stick around, I don't want them to overstay their welcome and see the product turn mediocre.

Wow, sorry I dared mention my disappointment with Lost. Shame on me. Thanks for setting me straight, Mel.
As for the 4th season being the last, I really seem to recall Ron Moore saying in a podcast (the latest one he did?) that the series was wrapping up after the next season. So OK, maybe the headline's a bit harsh as being "official". I'll edit to be a question. I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

keith,
1) i suspect your random slamming of lost was merely fodder to generate comments.
2) this being so, why act surprised when it stirs controversy?
let me give your brilliant technique a try:
you suck, but elizabeth chan takes the cake as worst tvsquad blogger.
what? elizabeth chan has nothing to do with your tvsquad posts? sorry i dared mention her lameness. shame on me.

Lost is just fillers until next season said...
I must live in another dimension because I think last episode of lost was the worst of all.
Such a crappy way to put a new "filler". It was like watching latino soap operas.
Totally overrated episode.

I think season four will be the last (the large episode order was the clue) and it's okay.
I just hope there'll be less stand alones and no more Starbuck/Apollo "romance".
Lastly Lost blows six ways to sundays.

Ron Moore has been quoted as saying that the show is entering it's final chapters but nothing beyond that and certainly nothing about whether or not that means the shows next season is its last. Whatever the case it's probably best for all concerned to get proper confirmation, Less feathers getting tossed that way. That and it would save us all the needless dragging of other shows into the issue.

Wow, some people are so sensitive about any criticism about their favorite shows. Calm down people, they're just words... about something on tv that you have no connection to aside from being a viewer. Settle down, no need for personal insults.
