Survivor Fiji: I Wanna See If I Can Make A Deal

(S14E13) Will the car curse last another season? Certainly anyone who is a student of Survivor has seen the effect that the car reward challenge can have on the game. But this season, figuring out who would get the curse is tricky. You see, it depends on who you think would be cursed - the person who won or the person who ended up with it. This unique situation along with the fact that Yau-Man was in jeopardy made this episode one of my favorites of the season.

This time a Ford truck was on the block for the reward challenge, which seemed to have big appeal for Boo and Dreamz when it was unveiled. During the first part of the challenge Yau-Man nearly loses it for his team, letting Cassandra, Dreamz and Earl rise to the top, but then Boo basically pulls his other members through the challenge. During the second part it looks like Boo might win the truck, but Yau-Man does. Then Yau-Man, clever soul that he is starts negotiating for the truck. He offers Dreamz a deal to have immunity during the final four, and then he sends himself to Exile Island. I can't decide if this was genius or not. But how many immunity idols does one man need. Yau-Man says he will share his clue information which worries me. Perhaps it was just the previews, but here I start to worry that Yau-Man is going to get seriously sandbagged.

The winning team goes to a school to deliver school supplies. During this event, Dreamz finally realizes that Yau-Man's offer wasn't just kindness and begins a secret plot. Watching Dreamz think something out has been a particular pleasure of this season. You can practically see the thoughts march across his face. The second he gets back to camp, he starts scheming with Cassandra. Cassandra and Dreamz seem like they are consistently trying to get Earl to turn against Yau-Man.

I really liked this week's immunity challenge. The multi-tiered challenge involved balance and throwing which unfortunately got the two women out right away. It's Boo versus Yau-Man in the final. When did Boo become such a challenge monster? I suspect losing a little weight brought out the inner athlete under the pudge.

With Yau-Man's clues, Earl locates the second idol. Meanwhile Dreamz puts his secret Yau-Man plot into action. The shots of everyone's faces while they hang around the camp is editorial brilliance. You see Yau carefully noticing that no one is making eye contact and then he immediately makes a move. Yau-Man tells Earl he has "bad vibes."

At tribal Stacy makes a huge blunder at tribal when she hints about a possible split vote. Yau-Man is already jumpy enough. Yau-Man cashes in his idol and Stacy goes home. She basically sends herself home which is fine because she has never been a true factor in this game anyway.

This episode gets a six from me. It was full of twists and turns and really set up a finale that could be very, very interesting. I really have no idea what's going to happen now.

Who could win it all? Too many people are gunning for Yau-Man so I don't think he will win (plus I think his win makes him the recipient of the car curse even if he did give the car away). Earl has been in charge, but that could work against him. Oddly enough I find myself cheering for Dreamz or Boo because I love a good upset.
