On today's edition of Ellen, Ellen DeGeneres decided to take it upon herself to find out if Private Practice, the working title of the Grey's Anatomy spin-off starring Kate Walsh, is going to be picked up for the fall. With her guest, Walsh, looking on a bit sheepishly, DeGeneres decided to call ABC Entertainment president Steve McPherson and ask him to cut the suspense and tell Kate and the audience whether the show was getting picked up.For his part, McPherson was a good sport, and ended up telling Ellen and everyone that Kate is in "pretty good shape," meaning that the show's almost assured of a pick-up. Once Kate got on the phone to say hello to McPherson, the executive uttered a line that was at once funny and painful for him to say -- "This is going to be an interesting contract negotiation" -- meaning that the lovely and leggy Walsh might be in for a very good payday pretty soon. Video is after the jump.

Oh course it would be picked up, did anyone really think it wouldn't? If it fails then she can then just be shipped back to Grey's Whorefest.

You could have had this a day earlier if you were reading the blog of the guy who knows someone at the Ellen show, namely, ME!

What a waste of an hour that will be. It was the most boring thing I have seen. Even Kate Walsh was unappealing in the spin-off. I won't be watching if they pick it up.

I think the better news today was that Friday Night Lights got its official Season 2 order. That had me cheering.

The Addison character gets on my nerves. Why would they pick her with which to do a spinoff show? She is too predictable and for a supposed intelligent female doctor, she's and idiot.

Everyone didn't hate the Grey's spinoff. In fact, my friend and I are both Grey's fans and we found that it was a brighter version of a good thing. We also liked the meshing of the two shows. Sometimes people don't like new things but, after years of watching tv, it was nice to find that tv still has something fresh to offer.

Goody- The most boring hour of TV? Surely that accolade goes to Grey's Anatomy and not it's spin-off.

I loved the show, the characters had somethings the Grey's cast doesnt, experience. Its interesting to see life after residency. All of the characters have succeeded in their chosen practice, but their lives are still as confusing as the interns. Watching the therapist fall apart showed the humanity, the internet dating doctor showed vulnerability and the fertility specialist showed how deceiving outward appearance can be. I think the characters and their interactions, had a lot of depth. The chemistry between them was very believable. It was refreshing and a lot more upbeat. Unlike Greys there were a lot of laughs. I will definately be watch... Greys may even lose me.

When addison first came onto Grey's, I didn't like her, I just wanted her to leave because I wanted McDreamy with dr. Grey. Addison grows on you, so does McSteamy, although personally he's not all that hot. I think Addison will end up just leaving Greys and go to private practice and if it doesn't work out, she'll come back and be with McSteamy. Walsh and Daly were really interesting to watch though. I hope that turns into something. Also, the whole McDreamy and Dr. Grey thing is getting old, I just want them to be together without all the "drowning" drama. I am getting really tired of Dr. Grey pushing him away, but if he goes with someone else, I'll quit watching. Derek and Meredith were the reason I started watching. George needs to be with Izzy and Yang need to chill out, Burk loves her, can't she just be happy to have a nice wedding with a man she loves and that loves her? Oh, yeah, and the girl with the memory thing.....that was messed up to lie to Alex like that, all he has done was be nice and helpful to her and she lies to him....not good.
