Annie briefly mentioned this in her review of last night's Daily Show, but I wanted everyone to see it for themselves. Jane Fonda appeared on The Colbert Report for the first time since she got a little frisky with Colbert in an appearance last fall. If you remember that appearance (unfortunately, the video for that was pulled from YouTube), Colbert was in a cooking segment with Fonda and another noted feminist, Gloria Steinem. There, Fonda insisted on kissing Colbert on the lips more than once, and those kisses weren't exactly motherly pecks. So in her return visit -- she was there to promote her new movie Georgia Rule -- Fonda stepped up the flirtation by not just kissing Stephen, but sitting on his lap throughout the entire interview. Stephen, usually pretty prepared for anything during those interviews, obviously didn't expect that to happen, and seemed flustered and a little bashful during the segment (apparently, even at 69, Fonda can do that to a guy). It's pretty good TV; the video of the interview is after the jump.

That was hilarious. Still no way on the planet I'm sitting through a movie with Fonda and Lohan though...
I had never seen "Cozy" spelled "Cosy" before... apparently both spellings are acceptable...
I guess you do learn something everyday..

And now today I get "treasonous disgrace." Even funnier. Wow - delusional people are awesomely entertaining.
Thanks!

I loved to see Colbert get burned, and by such a hot, mature lady. Not to mention she did it with such style. About time someone getting interviewed turns the table on him. Please dont let me find out this was rehearsed!!

LOL! Treasonous! Someone needs a dictionary. If she's treasonous, so are most of the American people.
Seriously though, it's nice to see a woman of a "certain age" embracing her sexuality and doing it well!

This was frickin hilarious even though when she smiles her neck is moving... if you get my drift. She looks like some sort of egyptian cat goddess now... but whatever, still the most funny thing I've seen in a couple of months on TCR with our beloved Knut coming in a close second ;-)

Consorting with the enemy during wartime, while our soldiers like John McCain were being tortured in prison camps for years, that qualifies as treasonous behavior in my book.

While a lot of Americans dissagree with policy.. and even a few assemble to voice their dissagreement (that right ironicly supported by those they complain about).
BUT..ms hanoi jane went a few steps past that and meet with our enemy...that puts her in a different catagory...and yes a treasonist catagory by definition.

Folks, this post was about a light comedic moment. Can we keep the discussion to that instead of what Fonda did thirty-five years ago? She's addressed the issue on numerous occasions, and whatever you may think of what she did, deserves to be able to promote whatever silly movie she's in (with Lindsay Lohan, of all people!) without constantly being reminded of her actions all those years ago. Please stay on topic.

Thanks so much for posting this! I just loved the whole dynamic. I think others in your comments said it well with the combination of Jane Fonda throwing him off his game and her looking so hot while doing it! Only a mature woman could have pulled that off. :) (says the woman who just turned 40)

This was brilliant on so many levels.
Jane is, and always has been, the mistress of her moment. I love that she hasn't succumbed to the national 'mores' of aging and she's doing it so gracefully.
I'm 18 years her junior and hope that I look half as good when I'm 69.
She gave me hope during MY protestation of the Viet Nam war and she gives me hope now that I protest this travesty.
Jane, while benigned by ultra conservatives; brain-washed by the controllers of the Chimp; is not afraid to exercise her right to speak her mind. I have always admired her (well, except for that time she married Ted) and always will.
