I'd agree with you that there was just a little too much going on in that movie. I disliked seeing Venom in only the last part of the movie. He is way too big of a villain to be relegated to third villain shown. Also, Topher Grace can't act to save his life. Aside from the whole venom aspect I thought it was a decent flick. But definitely not as good as the last two.

I thought the movie was terrible. On his blog, John August nailed all the lazy coincidences. The comedy was lame, the use of amnesia lamer still, and it actually had a dance number! The entire Sandman subplot should have been cut. Like the Jake said, Venom should've been more prominent (I disagree about Topher Grace's acting, though. He's good in pretty much everything he's in.)

Did I mention it had a dance number?

I saw this yesterday, with 3 of my cousin's kids. (ages 13, 10, 9) and none of us liked it. This movie has jumped into my most disappointing ever list. It is worse than Batman & Robin and even Speed2.

I wont spoil anything, but there is no story, the actors seem to have sleepwalked through this film (except J.K. Simmons, despite the crap they give him and the girl playing Gwen) and there is a bizarre sequence where Peter Parker channels Vinny Barbarino, Tony Manero and Steve Martin's Wild and Crazy Guy.

This is what happens when the studio gets involved in the creative process. Why haven't studios learned to leave directors alone?

If you haven't gone, don't bother. Save your money and time for something else.

Spiderman 3 is easily my least favorite of the Spiderman films. It's overly long, cheesy, has too many villains, and too many people crying.

Several characters, mostly the females, have nothing to do but cry for help or sing.

The film is a disappointment.

wow... i liked it.

i agree there was a lot going on, and i thought the venom/sandman teamup was a bit forced, but overall i thought it was great. the musical numbers and the funky walk bit certainly wouldn't have been out of place in an issue of spectacular spider man - there's always been plenty of cheese involved, and i think raimi set the right tone here. the jazz scene was maybe a little too long, but i didn't feel the need to nitpick after being completely entertained for two and a half hours.

it's fairly tragic, so i didnt feel the crying was really out of place, and the action set pieces were far above and beyond anything i'd seen in a superhero movie before - just incredible.

so there's my two cents... felt i needed to add a positive voice to the comments so far!

I found this one to be the best spider-man yet...good story and effects.

The only thumbs down I give is for having too many scenes of Parker as the "evil" spidey, felt that the director was running out of material...

I went with my brother, his wife, and my 9-year-old twin nephews. Also two friends of my brother's. So, 5 adults, two kids.

Adults: Too long. Too many villains. Terrible dialogue. Did you know that Kirsten Dunst's arm was so hairy? WA-A-AY too violent for a PG-13 (the impaling by Goblin board was really gruesome). But the special effects, especially the creation of Sandman, were pretty cool. But my GOD was that long. At least 17 scenes could have been cut without hurting the story.

Kids: FANTASTIC!!!

So, there you have it. They've found their audience: 9-year-old boys.
