Last week, Phil Stacey went home from American Idol in a "Blaze of Glory." Stacey's disappointed fans could at least take comfort in the fact that they would get to see him perform again, alongside the other ousted contestants during this summer's American Idols Live tour. However, now there's a chance that Phil may not be joining the tour."The last time I spoke to my commanding officer, things looked very promising that I'd be able to go on the tour," Phil said in an exit interview with AOL. "But it would break my heart to not be able to go. But I've got a duty and what's important is that I fulfill my responsibility to the Navy."
There is also a possibility that Phil, the lead singer for the Navy rock band, Pride, could be deployed to Iraq. According to Navy spokesman Cmdr. Jeff Davis, Phil Stacey is "tremendously valuable." Recently, the USO has struggled to find celebrities to entertain troops. However, with Phil, "the military has a singing star it can order to perform anywhere."
Phil's current tour of duty with the Navy ends in October 2008. He doesn't plan on acting on his new-found fame by trying to get out early, saying, "I want to fulfill my duties to the Navy."
