Here are AOL Television's top picks of the week. The New Adventures of Old Christine (Mon., 8:30PM ET, CBS) 2nd season finale
A few months ago in Vanity Fair, Christopher Hitchens pondered, "Why Women Aren't Funny." We beg to differ. Week after week, Julia Louis-Dreyfus consistently knocks it out of the comedy park. And, of the three Seinfeld sidekicks, she (the only woman) is only one to break the "curse" and succeed in her own show. Tonight's finale has Christine fretting over a possible pregnancy -- and the end of any chance of dating hottie Mr. Harris (Blair Underwood). Hopefully, CBS will wake up, laugh and renew this sitcom for a third season.
Law & Order: Criminal Intent (Tue., 9PM ET, NBC)
How soon is too soon to be ripping from headlines? Kristy Swanson guest stars as a stripper-turned-billionaire's widow, who overdoses days after giving birth. The case soon turns into a homicide investigation that also involves a paternity dispute. It feels a bit early for Criminal Intent to be telling its own thinly-veiled version of Anna Nicole Smith's death. And maybe some headlines just aren't meant to be ripped, ever.
Jericho (Wed., 8PM ET, CBS) 1st season finale
No, Jericho hasn't been renewed for a second season yet. Despite starting out with great ratings, a long winter hiatus drove away viewers and now it's unclear whether CBS will bring it back. If it does, the finale sets up a different tone for the show next year. Johnston rallies the town as long-simmering tension with neighboring New Bern finally explodes into battle, and a major death will shake up everyone's lives.
Traveler (Thu., 10PM ET, ABC) series premiere
This new drama gets a "sneak peek" (and the benefit of showing after Grey's Anatomy) before having its "regular premiere" May 30. In this serialized drama, three friends take off on a road trip after grad school. But when a prank goes terribly wrong in a New York City museum, two of them are wrongly blamed and discover that there's no evidence their third friend, Will Traveler, ever existed. They go on the run and vow to discover who he really was and why he set them up.
Ghost Whisperer (Fri., 8PM ET, CBS) 2nd season finale
One week, the Dog Whisperer comes to town, the next week dark spirits threaten to overcome the light? Well, Ghost Whisperer never staked a claim to gritty realism. In the second part of the season finale, Melinda urgently tries to decipher clues left by a prophetic ghost to prevent another tragedy from striking Grandview. Will she be able to stop a loved one from dying? And more importantly, just how high can her cleavage go?
Survivor: Fiji (Sun., 8PM ET, CBS) 14th season finale
Survivor -- it just keeps going. Every time you think the show's gotten deadly dull, it throws another curveball at you. Fiji was totally yawn-inducing until a few weeks ago, when Earl's alliance pulled one over on the arrogant "Four Horsemen." Best tribal council ever? Stacy probably will get the boot Thursday, leaving five to duke it out in the finale. As for the winner ... gotta give it up for Yau Man, the unlikeliest and toughest competitor in seasons.

No "Heroes". Again. No 24, either.
Seriously, wtf is the point of this list?

The point is to highlight shows worth watching. Especially the ones the masses might have missed.

EW does the same thing with their "What to Watch" listings in the back of the magazine. They'll put Lost on the cover, then not list the show in the listings. Their list seems a little arbitrary, since they'll highlight some special, but also list run-of-the-mill episode #121,354 of Law & Order.

Oh, and 95% of the ripped-from-the-headline episodes are just lazy writing (Chevy Chase as Mel Gibson? Please...).
As for being too soon? People would be more upset if it wasn't about a public figure, like if they did one based on VT shootings. But a public figure that spent the last decade living as a caricature is considered fair game.

Oh,.. thanks for clearing that up. I guess Heroes isn't "worth watching". Who knew that I've been wasting an hour of my Mondays?
Thanks for setting me straight.
While were at it,.. 24 should be up there too, but I'll let that one slide due it's poor performance this season.

If you click to see all the picks for the week, 'Heroes' is a pick for Monday. Just not the top one. I try not to choose the same shows as the lead every week, to provide a little diversity.
As the season winds down, 'Heroes' will likely make another appearance as a top pick.

Lose the sarcasm, Rob. I said shows worth watching, especially THE ONES THE MASSES MIGHT HAVE MISSED. I think your beloved "Heroes" would be one the masses have seen. No need to be an ass.
