Salma Hayek, who produces ABC's Ugly Betty, says that fans shouldn't expect her to reprise her roles of Sofia and the nurse in the telenovela the Suarez family watch. Hayek appeared in six episodes of the show's first season as Sofia Reyes and in one episode as the nurse, an uncredited role. Sofia was a newcomer to the Mode scene and was in charge of a new magazine. The character ended up being romantically tied to Daniel Meade but things didn't end happily for him after he learned some of Sofia's secrets.
Now that Hayek is pregnant in real life, people wondered if a pregnant Sofia would ever come back to the show to mess up Daniel's life a little more. Can anyone imagine Daniel as a father? Eric Mabius, who plays Daniel Meade on the show, told TV Guide that Salma Hayek made it clear that she was not returning to Ugly Betty. He added that the actress likes to keep her private life very private, meaning that the actress won't mix her pregnancy with the show.
Do fans really want Sofia back on the show? I certainly would prefer her to not pay a visit to Mode any time soon. The character was useful when she appeared but her storyline is over.
Ugly Betty airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.

I thought she just came in to kind of boost the show in the beginning anyway.

Georgia: Indeed, Hayek's main idea behind her appearing on the show was to boost ratings.

Safa Ahmed: Hayek was only in 6 of the 22 episodes and the show didn't get boring because she left. They brought in new storylines (see Alex/is for example) to keep the show interesting.
