"Loan Wolf": Paul Wolfowitz is in a spot of trouble at the World Bank. Resident Expert John Hodgman, sporting yet another snazzy tie, stopped by for the first time. I don't like seeing Hodgman on television anymore, because each appearance teases me and reminds me that his new book isn't coming out any time soon. Obviously, I am often reminded."The Olmert Report": Israel's Prime Minister Olmert is under heavy pressure to resign, but he shows no signs of stepping down. I have always pronounced "Olmert" normally, but now, thanks to this segment's little graphic, I'm going to be pronouncing it Colbert-style. Damn. Also, that footage of Bush dancing around is, like, The Daily Show's new favorite thing. I think they may even like it more than the word "douchebag".
The night's guest was Tobey Maguire, star of one of the season's most highly-anticipated films, Spiderman 3. The first thing I noticed -- apart from the wild, wild cheers from the audience -- was Maguire's height. He's about as tall as Jon... and Jon is not a tall man. Anyway, Maguire must have been absolutely exhausted, promoting the hell out of this movie in every part of the world. I must commend him for not falling asleep on Jon's desk. It was a pretty good interview.
Jon/Stephen: Sneezy Stephen. Moment of Zen: Bush thinks Wolfowitz sure is swell.

I was struck by the same thing, Annie! Maguire walked out and I thought--"whoa! Is he really only about 1/2 an inch taller than Jon?" I had no idea. He seems much taller in film. (Yeah, I know how dumb that sounds.)

I remember seeing Tobey on Leno once and thinking it was funny that his feet barely touched the ground when he sat all the way back in the chair.
