Recent rumors about upcoming Lost deaths have inspired MSNBC to publish a list of characters likely to bite the dust. Each Lost character was given "death odds," and the list is a mix of interesting and obvious choices. Contributor Ree Hines believes that Charlie (2:1), Anthony Cooper (2:1), Sun (3:1), Mikhail (3:1), and Rousseau (4:1) are the most likely to die this season.
I agree with the top two picks, but I have to believe that more than one Other will be dead by the finale. After making such a show of bringing Mikhail back, it would be shame to lose him again. Mikhail is my favorite new character this season, and is almost my favorite Other. The revelation that Sun could die during pregnancy seems like an element that will carry over into Season Four. It's too soon to kill her off.
Jin (6:1), Claire (7:1), and Hurley (8 1/2:1) are listed as dark horses. I would have placed Hurley among those least likely to die; he's one of the only sources of humor on the island. The long shots are Desmond (9:1), Juliet (9:1), and Locke (10:1). Desmond and Locke are both so central to the show's mysteries that I was surprised that they weren't in the "least likely" group. Hines made a convincing argument about Locke, though. It's highly possible that both the 815ers and the Others could turn on him. It could be a matter of running out of allies.
Finally, the safest characters: Sayid (13:1), Ben (14:1), Sawyer (15:1), Jack (16:1), and Kate (16:1). No arguments here. I'd be shocked if the love triangle was broken up. If Jack, Kate, or Sawyer are ever going to die, it will probably be in the show's final season.
What do you think of MSNBC's odds? Who would you put at the top of the list?

I gotta disagree with the safe bet odds on Sayid. Where does that come from? He serves no purpose anymore and hasn't since Shannon died. Not that I don't like the character, but Sayid does pretty much nothing that makes him indispensable on the Island, and his story, past and present, has been told.
Also have to disagree with the short odds on Charlie. Does anyone think something this predictable is actually going to come to fruition? It will be completely anti-climactic to have Charlie die now, and Lost usually likes the way of the swerve, and Charlie dying is like a slow pitch down the middle of the plate.
No way Rousseau is dying, Darlton already promised a flashback ep next yr.
Sun and Mikhail, not really a point, as Sun is pretty much marked for death as it is, and killing Mikhail again after bringing him back would just be plain stupid.
Cooper I think is going tonight, so those odds are pretty much dead on. (no pun intended)
I had been picking Jack, but killing him would be odd, as they have invested so much time (most of it pointlessly) into his past and present on the Island. I wish I was right, mostly because I'm just sick of having to watch the boring, whiny flashbacks, but odds are Jack stays, and someone else major, maybe even a few major characters will be done for before we flash to black screen, LOST, not to be seen again for eight months.

I think the odds on Charlie are about right. I believe Charlie does something that he knows will cause his death but he will do it for two reasons: 1) Something has to be done to save or help someone (Claire?) or the group in general. 2) Charlie does it to release Desmond from his penence, destiny, whatever of having to save his life so finally Desmond can have alife with Penny.
