Remember when Brett mentioned Tin Man a few months ago? The miniseries, debuting on Sci Fi in December, is a re-imagining of The Wizard of Oz, this time set in the Outer Zone (note the acronym) and starring Zooey Deschanel (a total celeb-crush of mine) Alan Cumming and Richard Dreyfuss (who I don't have crushes on).
The miniseries is filming in Vancouver, and so is the new Flash Gordon series. Since both series use some of the same retro-futuristic sets, the folks involved with Flash Gordon will be making a few tweaks to certain Tin Man sets and incorporating them into the design for the planet Mongo, home of Ming the Merciless.
That's not a bad way to save production money, and it's not like it hasn't been done before. Once, while Leonard Nimoy was sick for a month with pneumonia, a horse from Bonanza was given fake Vulcan ears and played Spock for four episodes. That's why Kirk rode around on Spock's back for all subsequent episodes, so the series didn't lose its continuity.

Another interesting instance of re-purposing sets: the sets for Battlestar Galactica's "Pegasus" are actually the redressed Jupiter 2 sets from a WB remake of Lost in Space that was never picked up by the network.

Oops! I hit "Add" before I was finished...
Probably the most obvious example of shared sets was the schizophrenic houses from "I Dream of Jeannie" and "Bewitched."
The interior of Samantha & Darrin's house in Bewitched was also the interior of Dr. Bellow's house in Jeannie.
The interior of Major Nelson's house in Jeannie was also the interior of the Kravitz's house in Bewitched!
The interior of the Steven's living room was also used in "Gidget!"

The entire village set in the 'Star Trek' episode of 'Miri' is a re-dressed Mayberry from 'The Andy Griffith Show'. And the kitchen set from 'All In The Family' was cannibalized and incorporated into the set for 'Everybody Loves Raymond'.....
Liked the image of Spock being played by a horse. Sounds like something from 'Family Guy' come to life!

Sydney Bristow lived in Felicity Porter's apartment in early episodes of Alias.

Those Tin Man sets are pretty spectacular, so it's kind of nice that they'll live on for posterity some how. I thought Leonard Nimoy looked strange for a batch of episodes there. I thought maybe he just had a bug or something. Who knew!
(Pssst Adam, that picture of Eric is nice... and nearly 10 years old. He doesn't look like that any more! If you ever want some more recent ones, check out http://www.ericjohnsonweb.com/gallery/categories.php?cat_id=37 )
