Do you ever wonder what Simon is rudely whispering to Paula when he's supposed to be paying attention to the idol's performances?
Can Simon really give good constructive criticism when it looks like he's paying more attention to Paula's left earlobe than the singing?
Personally, I've always sensed some sexual tension between Simon and Paula, so I just assumed the two were making plans on where they were going after the show. As is usually the case, I have no clue what I'm talking about.
Simon says he's usually ridiculing Paula's critiquing style.
He recently told Ellen Degeneres, "I'm taunting Paula throughout the performance. I'm saying to her, 'Try to say something interesting, try not to use the words mountain and lakes in your critiques because it's always, You'll climb mountains, you'll swim lakes, whatever.'"
He's probably being a bit cheeky with this comment, but I guarantee there's some partial truth to this.
Often, when Paula is worried about hurting a contestant's feelings or just has nothing relevant to say, she starts dropping superlatives about the contestant's amazing energy, spirit, and style that have nothing to do with how they just performed.
Of course, I usually find this very humorous and entertaining, so I wouldn't change it for the world. I'd hope Simon would encourage her to continue this flighty method of critiquing. It keeps me coming back for more.
Simon also points out that he watches the dress rehersals, and those are another opportunity for him to really hear what the contestants sound like.

Simon is actually a bully, and he has found he can intimidate Paula because she lacks self esteem. Just my opinion.

I like American Idol it gets fresh talent out there and you get to see the talent first hand before they become famous. I have my favorites but the most important thing is to be able to sing and understand what the words are or it leaves you mind wandering off the yelling does nothing for me to hold your notes is another thing of good vocals.

From season one, Simon was and still is the pillar of the show. Lateky, especially after Imus, I find that he goes out of his way to complement the African Anerican singers. Defineitely, LaKisha does not belong there. After the lousy performance of Ms. Sparks, I cannot fathom the reasoning for keeping her and sending either of the two who were booted out.

Melinda has already been singing professionally,even if it was as a backup singer. Lakeisha is trying to make new & better life for her & her daughter. That's THE American Way !

Simmon just act the way he does to make the show or it would be dull until it get down to 6 & then it get finger nail bitting It look like we have a real singer in that 17 year old girl for she can sing & Little can also & good luck to them.

I can't believe Melinda is off. I said from day one that the public shouldn't vote! It turns into a popularity contest instead of voting for the best singer & also, many,many people who wanted to vote for the right person can't get through! I tried to vote for Melinda for over an hour!
It makes me not even want to watch the show anymore!
