Here are AOL Television's top picks of the week. How I Met Your Mother (Mon., 8PM ET, CBS)
Come on down! The phenomenon known as May Sweeps is upon us, and that means explosive finales and guest stars galore. CBS will be commemorating Bob Barker's retirement from The Price Is Right later this month, so it's no surprise to see him also pop up on Mother. Barney, who believes Barker is his dad, travels to L.A. to get on the show and reveal himself. Showcase Showdown, indeed.
Veronica Mars (Tue., 9PM ET, The CW)
For those new to Mars, it's NOT too late to start watching. The show hasn't been cancelled yet and the final five episodes all feature standalone mysteries. For longtime fans, we'll take what we can get, right? Our favorite college detective takes on the case of an Arab couple whose restaurant is being vandalized with slurs. Daddy Sheriff, meanwhile, cracks down on underage IDs -- including ones distributed by his dear daughter.
One Tree Hill (Wed., 9PM ET, The CW)
Ah, prom -- so full of drama. In fact, OTH needs two whole episodes to fit everything in. In part one of prom, Brooke discovered Peyton had written "whore" on her dress, Nathan and Haley made up after fighting (again) and psycho Derek showed up at Peyton's house. Now, in part deux, Lucas finds out who killed Uncle Keith, while Brooke goes looking for a trapped Peyton. And, more importantly, someone will be crowned Prom Queen.
Grey's Anatomy (Thu., 9PM ET, ABC)
It's spinoff time! When ABC announced it was testing a Grey's spinoff starring Kate Walsh, I was shocked. I like Addison, but it's rare to see a spinoff air at the same time as the original. If both shows do well, ABC will be flying high, but it's a gamble to split the focus of creator Shonda Rhimes. In the potential spinoff, Addison travels to L.A. to do a little soul searching. There, she connects with old friends (Taye Diggs, Merrin Dungey), meets a new McDreamy (Tim Daly) and considers a major life change.
Spider-Man 2 (Fri., 8PM ET, FX)
If what they say is true and good things come in threes, then it'll be one awesome summer. Spider-Man 3, Shrek the Third and Pirates of the Caribbean 3 are all hitting theaters this summer. As with most movie franchises, it's been awhile since the last installment. So, before you line up for Spider-Man 3 this weekend, catch up on what happened last time: Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) battled a new villain, Doc Ock, while pining for true love Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst).
The Amazing Race: All Stars (Sun., 8PM ET, CBS) 11th season finale
Never thought I'd say this: I miss Rob and Amber. If they were still in the race, I wouldn't have to worry about Charla and Mirna winning. These two hypocrites with fake accents might actually win All Stars. And worse, my beloved Danny and Oswald are rooting for them! So, who should I root for? Neither of the other two final teams -- Eric & Danielle, Dustin & Kandice -- is particularly likable. So, perhaps I should just bow to the inevitable and say, "Go Mirna and Schmirna."
