Cool news for Family Guy fans: the series will be going into syndication in 24 of the top 25 markets, including Minneapolis (which probably doesn't mean much to any of you, but I live in Minneapolis).
While I'm not as fanatical about Family Guy as some, I think it's perfect for syndication. It's a series with the kind of light humor that's perfect for playing in the background while you clean your house on a lazy afternoon, and I don't think it'll suffer too much from the obligatory editing that often happens when a program goes into syndication. When a show is as heavy on non sequitur gags as Family Guy, cutting one or two doesn't hurt the overall flow of the episode too much.
So there you go: between airings on FOX, Adult Swim, TBS and now a syndicated run, you'll be able to get your daily allowance of Family Guy. If you can learn to grow your own food inside your house, you'll never have to leave.

Family guy stopped being funny when they tried to be like Southpark, which was when they started having gay marriage episodes. Too many shows are trying to point out societal issues, attempting to do what Southpark has gotten so much publicity over. Trey Parker and Matt Stone have obvious opinions, and those tend to come out through their writing, but they're not asses about it. Seth Mcfarlane is an ass. That's my opinion, at least...

Chris,
There is no comparison betwen South PArk and Family Gay. Family Guy is written so formulically and the jokes are alawys so flat. Just how that one episode of SOuth PArk pointed out when Cartman tried to prevent Famly Guy from airing.
It always seems to be so derivative of the SImpsons with the same character's basically. The oblivious, annoying dad. The indifferent, naieve wife. The rebellious kid and the genius.
With South PArk, even the bad episodes are never predictable and the pardoies are done in a much smarter, broader context that is then incorportaed into the storyline.Family Guy, the refrences are used soley for cheap gags
Bottom Line, Family Guy is the most overated piece of shit on TV.

#'s 1 and 2 need to calm down. Family Guy is just a cartoon. Just a cartoon. Just a cartoon. If it makes people laugh, which it must because it was brought back from the dead and is now going into syndication, then it must be worth watching. Comparing one cartoon to another is a sign of someone who watches wayyyyyy too much television anyway. Calm down. Its just a cartoon.

That whole, "just a cartoon" argument is just ignorant. No offense to you, meeno01, but thinking like that is silly. Cartoons aren't all children shows, and even if they are, they can still be subject to criticism and praise. Don't simply dismiss them as something that shouldn't be talked about.

listen, I never said that a cartoon was meant just for children, what I meant to say is that you cant seriously sit down and critique a cartoon like its a oscar nominee, its just a cartoon. Also to say that "Seth Mcfarlane is an ass" speaks volumes about how seriously you take cartoons. like I said, calm down, its just a cartoon

menno01, its not "just a cartoon." The creators of the show chose the cartoon medium to project their ideas and critiques of society. It doesn't mean you can dismiss it on the basis that "it's just a cartoon". If the cartoon is trying to satirize or mock current events, you should analyze its content in such a way too. It may not be an oscar nominee, but if it tries to be socially relevant, it stops being "just a cartoon." Although i find Blargg's tone a bit offensive, i have to pretty much agree with what he said.

Family Guy is a joke-based show, non sequitur joke-based. It's not supposed make sense or fit in with the story line, it's just supposed to make you laugh which it has never failed in doing so (at least for me). The jokes are interchangable (they're supposed to be that's what a non sequiter is) and they can be dry sometimes (which is definately my sense of humor and what I believe sets the show apart from South Park) but they definately are not flat. I like South Park sometimes too but I feel they're offensive just to be offensive and there is no real satire. I've watched many episodes of South Park all the way through without laughing once (I've never laughed out loud watching the show) and sometimes it's just plain annoying. I'm not trying to shit on South Park, that's just my opinion, like I said I watch it too. But I don't think the shows should be compared anyway, they're very different shows and cater to different people. Family Guy also doesn't try and be like South Park (they don't write story lines based off what everyone else does they just write about what's relevant, like gay marriage). Nor do they try to be like The Simpsons. I think the similiarities in the show to The Simpsons is just an homage to the show (even though the Simpsons writers don't see it that way!).
P.S. Seth Macfarlane isn't an ass, he's a GENIUS and Family Guy isn't an overrated piece of shit. You just don't get it.
Next time let's be civil.
