Animation news: John K, Aqua Teen movie and a Dethklok tour - VIDEO

dethklokHere's some cool animation news from the past week or so:

First, if you dig the heavy metal sounds of Dethklok, the brutal (but rather stupid) band from the Adult Swim series Metalocalypse, you'll be happy to know the band is doing a tour of some college campuses, according to Toon Zone and Adult Swim HQ. I'll keep you posted as more information becomes available. Other yet-to-be-announced bands will also be touring to promote Adult Swim.

Aqua Teen fans should mark August 14, 2007 on their calendars, because that's when Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters comes out on DVD. The set will actually include an entire deleted movie (listen to this Sound of Young America interview to hear co-creator Dave Willis talk about it).

Our buddies over at Download Squad provide step-by-step instructions on how to make yourself look like a blue person from Tom Goes to the Mayor using Adobe Photoshop.

Raise your hand if you loved the Spawn animated series on HBO. Yes, of course you did. You can snatch that DVD up on July 24. It includes all 18 episodes of the series, plus bonus features and DVD artwork by Todd Mcfarlane.

For the real animation fans, check out this interview with Ren and Stimpy creator John K over at Cold, Hard Flash. As usual, he has opinions about the animation biz and he ain't afraid to share them.

Finally, some sad news: Jim Thurman, who wrote for Roger Ramjet (a personal favorite), passed away April 14 at the age of 72. Thurman also wrote for comedians such as Bill Cosby, Bob Hope, Bob Newhart and Carol Burnette, and was also a writer on Sesame Street, The Electric Company and 321 Contact. Many of you, however, might know him as the voice of "Teeny Little Super Guy" on Sesame Street:
