I haven't watched Live with Regis & Kelly in a while, but I tuned in today because it was Regis' first appearance on the show since heart surgery weeks ago and David Letterman was going to be the first guest. Throughout the entire show, Kelly kept saying that they had an incredible surprise for Regis. I even think she said that we should get our recording devices ready. Was Kathie Lee Gifford going to make an appearance? Was the entire Notre Dame football team going to carry Regis on their shoulders?
Um, no. It was a bunch of dancers they dubbed "The Dancing Regi" (shades of "The Dancing Itos" from Leno's show), a bunch of guys who dressed like Regis and danced to "Staying Alive." It was horrible, lame, and not even slightly entertaining. You just know Regis was cringing.
Early in the show, Regis joked that the surprise would be, knowing Gelman, "coffee and cake." Actually, that would have been better. Letterman was good though.

Yeah I normally don't watch Regis and Kelly, unless someone I like is a guest, but I figured hey, Regis is back why not? I found the surprise underwhelming. It was sweet I suppose. It's the thought that counts. I thought Letterman was good, kept it funny. I am happy Regis is back.

The surprise gave me douche chills. Letterman was fun though. Seriously, no more cornball "surprises."

If it would have been the Dancing Kellies, it would have been imminently more exciting, not only for the male audience but for Reg. But, of course, they probably didn't want to cause to much excitement for his heart.

I love the show, but I have to say, most of the time when they hype something, it's not nearly as good as they make it out to be!

Yeah, even for that show it was kinda lame. Letterman actually seemed to be having fun for once, though. Usually he acts like he's really uncomfortable...

Regis look great - although he seemed a little pensive. Still hurting, I guess. I'm really glad he's ok. He's no spring chicken.
Letterman doesn't do ANYTHING other than his show. It was great to see him on R&K. I was kind of pissed that Dave didn't fill in for Regis like Regis did for him, but I guess this makes up for it.
The "surprise" was way beyond lame.

I saw the show this morning. The surprise was very lame. I thought there would be more until they went to break. Very disappointing surprise (I liked the idea of Kathie Lee coming back for Reg). Sorry Gelman, bad decision on your part.
