"Mess O' Potamac": Ahh, yes. I'm glad I wasn't the only one that felt extremely uncomfortable watching Nancy Pelosi pretend she didn't mind having Harry Reid's hand on her shoulder. The Bush vs. Bush debate was well-done. The Daily Show has totally mastered the art of collecting video clips. That is the beauty of doing a faux news show, is it not? CNN wishes they had a time machine to do a debate between past- and present-Bush.Early interview! I expected a pretty good interview, and I was not disappointed. The night's guest was Senator John McCain, returning for the millionth time via the Straight Talk Express... or something like that. McCain seemed like he was trying to keep it a generally light-hearted interview by starting off with plenty of jokes, but Jon did not hesitate to dig in and really get down and dirty. At times, the two of them talked over each other so much, that I thought someone was going to get punched in the mouth. Also, I'm glad the audience didn't obnoxiously cheer for every single word that Jon said... and even applauded for something McCain said. Finally, some retraint restraint! (EDIT: Yes. "Restraint" usually does have an "s" in it. Usually.)
I just noticed that there are no more shadow people in the background. The fact that I haven't noticed is definitely a good thing... The movement was a huge distraction.
Moment of Zen: Ohh, Bush... You and your silly contradictions.

McCain is looking more and more like a crazy old man who is the president's lap dog. Really.
He wants to say that the war was mismanaged. . . but without really saying THIS WAS WRONG and THIS IS HOW WE FIXED IT. . . how are we supposed to really think his "plan" will work?

The political interviews when the guy doesn't have a book to plug are always fun, because that means the gloves come off. I disagree with McCain, but I'll always respect that he's willing to talk about these issues fairly candidly in a relatively hostile environment.
And Garry Shandling tonight! That'll bring back fond memories of Jon driving Larry Sanders off the (fictional) air.

I still think there was too much cheering, and Jon had too much to say. This is supposed to be an interview, not a debate.
Also, doesn't the word restraint have an "s" in it?

First term Bush vs. second term Bush was brilliant. It reminded me of the Governor Bush vs. President Bush debate that they did a few years ago.
