Ah, Rosie... we hardly had a chance to say hello, and now you're saying goodbye.Actually, given what we've heard over the last few months, this isn't a big surprise: According to the AP, Rosie O'Donnell will leave The View in June. She was unable to come to a contract with ABC, saying in a statement that "My needs for the future just didn't dovetail with what ABC was able to offer me."
Of course, Rosie has been the best and worst thing to happen to The View since she started there last year. Her controversial presence raised the show's ratings. But producer and star Barbara Walters has had to support her host through many a verbal battle, including dust-ups with Donald Trump, Rupert Murdoch, and Clay Aiken. There's been speculation that Rosie is going to go back to hosting her own show, and the production company for her old talk show reportedly wants her back. But, for now, O'Donnell hasn't announced what her next move will be.

w0ot! I'm the first comment of probably more than 500-600! Why do posts mentioning Katie Couric, Meredith Viera and Rosie have SO many comments on here?
Bah, who cares about Rosie anyways? Only women watch her show :P

@Jonathan: "Why do posts mentioning Katie Couric, Meredith Viera and Rosie have SO many comments on here?"
Because AOL promotes those kinds of posts on their welcome page. People keep forgetting how many millions of users they still have. And, apparently, a small percentage of them are very vocal. Hence the 500-600 comments.

Rosie announced on the show today that she only wanted one year and ABC wanted three years and after negotiating for a while, they couldn't come to an agreement. They are saying she will be back to guest host next season and she will still help with special hours on things like autism and other causes she is interested in.
I know all the Rosie haters come out of the wood work whenever there is a post about her. I don't always agree with her but I find it refreshing that she does speak her mind and get people to think about issues in a different way. I will miss the clashes in ideals with Elisabeth. I think she made the show better because Elisabeth and Joy now speak their minds more than they ever have. I won't miss how she stomped on some of the other hosts viewpoints when they were against hers.
The View is a rare format with Hot Topics and you actually do have four women openly discussing current news. We don't get that enough. I appreciate what Rosie brought to The View, even if I didn't agree with her view or with how she expressed her view sometimes.

If one person wanted one year and another 3 wouldn't the agreement be 2?
Plus it's too late now, supposedly, for her to start her own show again for the fall 2007 season. That's most likely why she will be guest hosting next year.
Plus if she gets her own show again what will that be like? She's a bitch on The View and that's why people watch, she wasn't like that on her own TV show.

Yes, the show can go back to being in its golden stage, I loved it better when she wasnt there, though I have to agree Rosie did make a few of their discussions quite interesting.

Rosie is a fat ultra-liberal bitch with a mouth the size of Texas and a brain the size of a pea. She was probably good for rating, but I say good riddens to a very ugly women, inside and out.

Rosie O'Donnell is one of the biggest idiots ever put on TV. The fact that she actually gets no real punishment for her ridiculous commentary, while Imus got fired, is beyond a double standard.
This moron actually publicly accused the government of the US of orchestrating 9/11, and had the nerve to talk about physics. I'd be surprised if she could even spell physics, let alone talk like she's an authority on the subject.
This woman, and I use that term loosely, should not be on television. I hope she gets hit by a bus, but the bus isn't damaged.

I'm not a huge Rosie fan but I will admit that she does bring an element to the show that makes it interesting. I don't always agree with Rosie but at least she has the ability to see beyond her life experiences. Elizabeth on the other hand cannot appreciate or even put forth an effort to understand those different from herself. I would rather watch Star Jones talk about her over rated wedding.

Lavana, why the hostility towards Elisabeth? It sounds like you are describing the intolerant Rosie.

Have they thought about the Rivers duo. They are currently on the bread line and not doing anything at the moment.

JOY! PEACE! Ding dong, the witch will be GONE!!!! Her anti-life and anti-Christian diatribes are just one of the reasons I'm DELIGHTED (NOT-SO) ROSIE Will be GONE!! Then, of course, her idiotic squabbles with Donald trump are downright jouvenile!!
Here's something I'd LOVE to be able to say to her, but as this is the closest I'll get...
Me: Rosie, where do you come from? Not what PLANET, but how did you get here?
Rosie: (shrugging) My parents, I assume.
Me: Exactly. And yet you have no problem with killing a baby because you see it in abstract terms. And since you can't make a baby (with another woman), it's a moot point. But what if your mother had the 'RIGHT TO CHOOSE' as you're so proud of declaring? Do you wish that your mother had utilized that "REPRODUCTIVE CHOICE" to get rid of you? If I were 'The Donald', I'd say YES! BOY, do I wish she had utilized that right!
As the old saying goes; "You live by the crushing forcsepts, you die by the crushing forcepts".
Bye, bye, ROSIE!

I have to admit that I really liked Rosie on The View.
She is outrageous and very left-of-center, but is completely aligned with the original mission of the show which was to include different types of women (age, race, etc.) with different points of view.
With this news, who will Elizabeth, bless her conservative heart, have to argue with?

Well Const,
Just pay attention on the next show and I'm sure she will make some primative off the wall statement. She's the most sheltered individual. There is not always a right and wrong. Sometimes things are all relative to the person experiencing them. That she does not get

If you're going to bash the woman, get your facts right. She did not say the U.S. government had any hand in 9/11 attacks. All she said was that the collapse of the WTC7 building was suspicious, and she referred viewers and blog readers to experts who said building 7's collapse looked oddly like a controlled demolition.
I for one will be sad to see Ro go. I didn't agree with her all the time, but she sure made things interesting.

You have to give the fat pig with the big mouth some credit. At least she knows she's a fat pig with a big mouth! Some fat pigs with big mouths don't even realize what they are.. Rosie Knows exactly what she is !! Never having watched that show I won't miss her one bit however if I was ever inclined to watch the lame show I would rather watch a fat pig with a big mouth than those other Nimrods...

Rosie was a breath of fresh air! She is one our generation's greatest humanitarians too. I wish she'd reconsider her contract. The View will suffer without her.
