(Spoiler Warning) With only a few weeks left until the big Lost season finale, speculation about the final episodes is popping up all over the place. The past two weeks of TV Guide's Ask Ausiello have featured the most exciting spoilers of all. Death has been absent from Lost episodes recently, but it will be back in full force next month. More than a few of you could be catching up to the death pool leaders. Things could get very interesting!
This post is all about possible character deaths, so please stop reading if you want to be unspoiled for the rest of Season Three.
Last week, Michael Ausiello claimed that five people would die by the end of Season Three. This week, he gave out even more details. Apparently the group of five will be "a mix" of Others and crash survivors. One side will suffer more losses than the other. Ausiello also believes that Juliet will not be killed. So who's left?
The Others: The only Others that were picked in the pool are Alex, Ben, Jacob, Karl, and Tom. With the exception of Jacob, I think that these are decent picks. Jacob is so mysterious that it would be pointless to reveal his identity and immediately kill him. It could happen, but it would be sort of a letdown. If there is some major showdown between the Others and the survivors, I can see some minor Others getting killed (Tom, etc.). There are several Others that no one picked because they had not yet appeared. People like Richard Alpert, Isabel, and Aldo could die as well. I would be surprised if all of the deaths involved major characters. Look for some minor players to die.
The Crash Survivors: I don't even want to think about this one. Any death among the 815 group would be sad. Charlie is an obvious choice, given Desmond's premonitions. His flashback episode, "Greatest Hits," is coming up, and characters often die during their back story episodes. Many of you stand to profit from a Charlie death. I was surprised that every single crash survivor was marked for death in the pool, even Aaron. You people must have no faith in the survivors' ability to defend themselves! One or more of you will be receiving points, no matter who dies. For my money, the most likely candidate for death is Locke. He's in a position to confront his biggest personal demon, just like Eko was before he died. The least likely? Hurley. Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse know that they would have a riot on their hands if Hurley died.
Who do you think will die? Share your picks!

I'm pretty sure Locke is the least likely to die. I believe the creators have said something along the lines of "Locke is the most important character in lost", but I might be wrong, or I might've misunderstood them.

I don't know why, but I have a feeling that Jack is going to die.
With the "extremely significant outcome for the future of the castaways" resulting from the Jack/Locke showdown.
It would be pretty big blow to the surviviors if their doctor would die, and the only other doctor is an Other.

I'd say the top candidates are Jack and Sayid (if so, I'll be 3/3 on the Death Pool) , and I think probably someone relatively minor from the Others. I reeeeeeeally hope they don't kill Ben or Juliet, those two are just too damn good to dispose of.
I'm fine with Charlie dying except for the fact it really messes with the Death Pool lol.
And btw...Mikhail is BACK, alive and in the flesh, NOT in a flashback...bout time to pull those points back...

Why would anyone care if Hurley died? I have been hoping Hurley and Charlie would die since season 1.
I seem to remember reading the Desmond - Penny story was major part of the show...so I don't think Desmond will die.
I would like to see Sawyer kill "Zeke"

I think the "heavy hit" side will be the 815 survivors and their friends. I've had a funny feeling that Jack might be the one going down in the finale. Recent episodes suggest they might be grooming Sawyer to take his place as the new beach leader. Charlie seems fairly certain to die as well.
I can't see Ben or Juliet dying though. And what about Cooper? We have no idea what his deal is on the island, but there are at least 2 people we know of who would like to see him finished off.

I hope its not the main Losties like Jack,Kate, Sawyer or Hurley! While Jack has been acting weird he is the main guy so killing him or Locke who have always been called "heart" or "soul" of the show would be really strange.
Maybe its Sayid cos Andrews has not been very happy with Lost and has been quite vocal. Charlie would be too obvious and Desmond still has to ve reunited with Penny and is connected to the island. I hope ist Rose and Bernard or Claire!

Gosh, five people are going to die and it's not going to be evenly split between the two camps? Huh, and here I thought they'd half-kill Hurley and Ben to even things out.

God, I hope they kill Jack. They won't because he's the "leading man," but the character is an ass. If it's one of the big two to go, it'll be Locke.

Here are my picks for the five:
1. Locke's dad- already dead
2. Jack- Juliet will take his place as the "doctor".
3. Ben- After Ben reveals all to Locke, Ben will somehow die and be replaced by Locke (as leader over the Others). Locke has already symbolically distanced himself from the Losties. And he has no desire to leave the island.
4. Sawyer- his story arc is over. He's avenged his parents and most likely gotten Kate pregnant. Kate & Sawyer being imprisoned together was a ploy to create a bond between them and get her pregnant for the Others' research- which is why Juliet mentioned Kate in her tape recorder.
5. And Charlie will probably die just because he seems fated to, thus enabling Desmond to take over as the father figure for Claire's baby.

To the person above me, are you kidding me with some of your picks? JACK dying???? Wow, have you not been watching lost since season one? Jack is the main character. If he dies, the whole show will die. Seriously.
Ben? Don't think so. He is also an important character to this show. He's the leader of the others, or so it seems. Killing him would be a major slump for the show. He is the villain, who we love to hate.
Sawyer? No way. Without him, who would Kate have? Killing him would destroy Kate's character, even more than it already has. Since she no longer has Jack to run to, she runs to Sawyer. So we need him around, for Kate's sake. Plus, Sawyer has always been a popular character with the fans. Especially lately. Killing him would make millions of fans angry.
and now for the more realistic picks.
1. Locke's dad- Quite possible. Since he was killed on the last episode.
2. Karl- Not much going on with his character. Plus, he's being brought back for the next episode. It would make sense if he dies during the battle.
3. Charlie- Oh my lovely Charlie. It's been hinted all season long that he will die. =( and the whole "ds" ring in Aarons BUT, there is also this whole scenario on why the lost writers would give such a huge piece of information away; like a death of a character away so easily. I mean every other death we've had on lost, (besides Locke's dad) has been a complete and utter shock. To do something like this, just doesn't make all that much sense. But hey, it's lost. It could still happen. Just saying there's still a little hope for his character.
4. Locke- Not saying he will completely die. But Ben did shoot him. So maybe he dies, then heals???
5. Sayid- possible. Though, I don't want him to. He's the only one who asks questions. and he's damn good at it too! =/

omg, i just read a spoiler. don't know if it's true or not. but it did almost bring a tear to my eye........ :((((
i was also wrong about a character who ends up dying. it will not help by doing this!!! it does not solve any answers, and will leave us with so many questions. dammit! :((((
and another character it mentioned dying, who i had no idea was even being considered as a candidate! will make me veryyyy angry!
ps- according to them, i was right about 2 maybe 3 deaths.

Whoah, calm down, dude. It's a tv show and we're all speculating here.
I stick by my pics. I also don't think Locke will die. The writers will probably make him some sort of Christ figure (since he's the "spiritual" one). Everyone will think he's dead, then on the third day he'll come walking out of the jungle and scare the crap out of everybody -- especially Ben. I still think Ben will die.
I like the way they tied Locke and Ben together by having to sacrifice their fathers to join the Others.
