The title of the series was "Blackpool". "Viva" was added for the US market because it was assumed Americans would not know what or where Blackpool is, but might understand the allusion to Las Vegas. The series was fantastic, and if people are willing to watch "Idol", I don't see why a musical with a plot can't work.

I guess Peter Krause being attached to this law series means Sci Fi won't be buying "The Lost Room" as a series. Although it could be done with a different star.

It's always funny to see the buzz when people have just seen assemblies or first cuts. Wait until testing. Things'll be completely different after that!

I haven't read all the drama pilots yet but of those mentioned, The Apostles, Life, Sarah Connor Chronicles and Demons were strong. As soon as CBS tests Babylon Fields, that buzz will die. No way is a test audience going to like a zombie show for CBS. CBS experiments every year and every year they chicken out. So don't get too excited about Viva Blackpool and Swingtown, either. Lipstick Jungle was not a good script, unless you don't care if female characters are believable or not. Sarah Connor Chronicles would get on regardless of the quality of the script -- David Nutter directed it.

Why would I want to watch "Dirty Sexy Money"? Because of the title? Is TV so vapid now that just by throwing a buzz word like "sexy" into the name of a show will draw viewers? Stupid reasoning.

Well, I thought "The Lost Room" was one of the best things I've seen on Sci Fi outside of "Battlestar Galactica", "Farscape", the Stargate series, and the Dune miniseries. The literary science fiction world ranges so much wider than the alien monsters and space battles that so many people expect based on the 1950s and pop garbage like the Spielberg and Lucas films, and it was nice to see a more original concept, done well. But crap is clearly what most people are looking for on Sci Fi, although the relative success of theatrical films such as "Children of Men" suggests there may be hope for better stuff as well.

I attended the live-audience taping of the NBC pilot "Masterson's of Manhattan" with Natasha Richardson and Molly Shannon, directed by Jim Burrows. It was really funny. Many LOL moments. TB
