Welcome to TV Squad Lists (formerly 'The Five'), a feature where each blogger has a chance to list his or her own rundown of things in television that stand out from the rest, both good and bad.
Being newly single, I've been spending a lot of time these days thinking about the perfect woman. More often than not, my thoughts end up drifting into the realm of television and all of the perfect women there. So I decided to compile a list of the ten hottest moms on television. Unfortunately, there were way too many to fit on a top ten list, so I expanded the list to fifteen. This was a tough list to compile and I'm sure many of your favorites are absent, but I doubt that anyone can refute the fifteen below.
Susan Mayer - Desperate Housewives (Teri Hatcher) Hatcher has always been smoking hot but it wasn't until Desperate Housewives that she became a TV mom. The best part of her character is how Susan is continually clumsy, awkward and unsure of herself and still manages to be hot.
Lorelai Gilmore - Gilmore Girls (Lauren Graham) Clearly, Lorelai has a leg up on other TV moms, since she had Rory when she was sixteen, but her sense of style and amazing sense of humor has kept her hot for seven seasons now.
Lily Manning - Once & Again (Sela Ward) As a father, I see moms like Lily all the time. Whether they're handing out juice boxes at a birthday party or splashing around with their kids at the pool, they exude an attitude of worldliness and confidence without being egotistical.
Laura Petrie - The Dick Van Dyke Show (Mary Tyler Moore) Granted, The Dick Van Dyke Show wasn't about the Petrie family as much as it was about The Alan Brady Show, but one look at Laura dancing around in Capri pants is enough to get her on this list.
Shirley Partridge - The Partridge Family (Shirley Jones) There is a particular episode where Shirley and Laurie are trying on hot pants to consider them as new outfits for the band. It must be seen to be believed.
Nancy Botkin - Weeds (Mary Louise Parker) The only widow on this list and the best reason to watch Weeds. Ever since she pointed out how great her breasts looked on The Golden Globes, I have been unable to think of anything else when she is on the screen.
Joy Darville - My Name is Earl (Jamie Presley) I generally am not a fan of the trashy woman and clearly Joy is not pleasant to be around, but her hotness can hardly be called into question. Even when she was an animated clay figure, I was embarrassed by my own thoughts.
Donna Stone - The Donna Reed Show (Donna Reed) I know she's close to impossible to find but there is something undeniably sexy about a housewife who dresses like a fashion model, cooks gourmet dinners and still looks hot at the end of the day.
Janet Gavin & Sheila Keefe - Rescue Me (Andrea Roth & Callie Thorne) Individually, these two moms are more trouble than they are worth, but, as Tommy Gavin will attest, together they are worth every moment of drama. How many other guys out there were jealous of Tommy when Sheila dosed him?
Cordelia Chase - Angel (Charisma Carpenter) Now, even though Cordy's pregnancy wasn't a traditional one, she is still a mom and is definitely hot. It's hard to believe that the shallow bitch on Buffy eventually became the sensitive, stunning mother figure on Angel. If her character on Veronica Mars had a kid, she'd be on this list twice.
Niki Sanders/Jessica Sanders - Heroes (Ali Larter) Which one is the better mom is certainly debatable, but they're both hot. Obviously, she's a looker but the hottest thing about Niki/Jessica is that at any given moment she can become the ultimate bad girl. Talk about a wild ride.
Elena Delgado - Without A Trace (Roselyn Sanchez) I know we rarely get to see Elena exercising her motherly duties but what she lacks as a mom, she more than makes up for in hotness. When she and Poppy Montgomery team up to investigate something, I always hope they track the bad guy to a lingerie shop.
Christine Campbell - The New Adventures of Old Christine (Julia Louis-Dreyfuss) Let's be honest, she's basically Elaine with a kid. I grilled my friend Andy Richter about being in bed with her in the first couple episodes and I still have the email to read on those lonely nights.
Elaine Nardo - Taxi (Marilu Henner) Elaine was so hot, I often forgot she had kids. She never really cared much about finding a husband, which is rare in a single mom. She was also so secure enough in her hotness that she could pick up hot guys like Tom Selleck while driving her cab.
Lindsay Bluth Funke - Arrested Development (Portia di Rossi) Personal problems aside, Lindsay was smokin'. She never let her motherhood get in the way of her hotness. Whether she was slutting it up for prisoners or trying to seduce Bob Loblaw she was living proof that funny is sexy.

I think Darla was a hotter mom on Angel than Cordelia. Even if she technically wasn't a real mom since she died while giving birth.

I was just thinking about how horrified Lorelai would be to be included in the same company as "Donna Reed."

Once again, TVS gives no love to the Unit:
Audrey Marie Anderson - Kim Brown (The Unit)
Abby Brammell - Tiffy Gerhardt (The Unit)
...and I agree with most of the other suggestions, but Jamie Presley, Shirley Jones, and Gates McFadden? Really? You guys gotta get out into the real world.

The O.C. was the recent champ of hot moms! Both Kirsten and Julie should be near the top of this list.
And of all time - Meredith Baxter-Birney on Family Ties. She set the standard imho.

I'm not going to nominate someone, merely point out that I think there is a level difference between characters who are shown as established moms from the get-go (Lorelai Gilmore) and ones who we see grow into moms (Cordelia Chase). Somehow, the latter seems like cheating to me.
