Before I begin I just want to let you know that I am just the messenger, and that all replies of outrage should go directly to Andy Dehnart at MSNBC. See, Andy writes the weekly '5Top' column at MSNBC's website and this week he focuses on the top 5 shows that should be canceled. Now, you would think that a list such as this would contain shows such as According to Jim, The War at Home, or Meet the Press. This one actually contains none of those shows. In reality, it contains five shows that are actually still pretty big and watched by good amount of the viewing public.
From bottom to top, Andy wants to cancel CSI:New York, ER, The Simpsons, 24 and Lost. Wow! All right, I could see CSI:NY and ER, although the longest-running medical drama on television right now has seen a rebound this season. It may not matter anyway as next season may be the show's last. But, The Simpsons? Sure, it's not as strong as it used to be; however, if you're a FOX network executive are you really going to pull the show right before The Simpsons Movie premieres in theaters this summer, which will probably bring a resurgence to the show next season? I think not! Lost and 24? Sure, cancel those. Just be ready for the angry mobs of rabid fans that storm the network studios when that happens.
By the by, after you read Andy's picks scroll down to the live MSNBC vote on what shows should be put out of their misery. Lost is up there with 15 percent of the vote, followed by ER and The Simpsons with 12 percent. Oh, According to Jim is on that list as well, with a measly seven percent of the vote. Huh. Maybe we were all wrong about that show after all.

According to Jim, is some of the worst TV ever. My mom used to "like" the show until after about 10 episodes I went "He will do something dumb, the brother will too they will be caught and the wife will be pissed". She's like "I never really noticed", I think that's what "fans" like, they aren't really paying attention.
How The War at Home got picked up I have no clue. That show is so bad and about 10 years outdated. My daughter might have sex and my son might be gay!!!
Simpsons I agree with, 24 needs to go, Lost needs to have a real ending and not be canceled. Same with Gilmore Girls, give it 13 episodes next year and end it. Pretty much every show NBC has should be canceled.
One Tree Hill is terrible, I know it's a soup but even then it's still bad.
I have never understood Las Vegas, it gets no press or anythnig but yet somehow the show continues.

You have got to be kidding...Lost? MSNBC/NBC is in 4th place where ABC, CBS and FOX is in the top three in the rating. NBC puts on a drama show "Kidnapped" and "The Black Donnelly's" and a few shows in they cancel them, and us "suckers" have to go to NBC.com to watch on a computer screen while my big screen/TIVO's are taping LOST, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters,Cold Case, The Shield, Nip Tuck, The Riches,House,Criminal Minds, Ugly betty, Greys Anatomy...
NBC better keep ER, Heros, Medium, Las Vegas, The Office on...that's about all you have to offer that's decent...

Lost - SERIOUSLY needs to go!
ER - get rid of it!
And this better be the last iteration of CSI

This guys on glue - There is no way Lost should be canceled. Also I find the War at home fairly funny as well. But then again I only watch that and Drive on Fox - the rest of Fox's show's should be canceled!

If any of these shows are cancelled, it will open up space on the schedule for the shows that couldn't beat out According to Jim or The War at Home.

I think everyone is missing the point. These shows are shows the author liked and is mad that they are now shadows of their former selves. I think fans of all of those shows are mad because they're not as good as they used to be.
The article should have been called, "Shows I really liked that now suck."

24 has finished its run, the episodes are getting to be too repetitive and it is obvious that the writers have no new ideas.
lost should finish next season. i really think they will ruin it by trying to stretch it out to seven seasons.
the simpsons will never be cancelled.
CSI:NY is better than miami, all three CSIs should be cancelled, none will be.

What a dumb list.
OK, 24 and Lost are not as good as they were when they debuted. However, they are "mythologies". The writers of both series have a grand scheme plotted out-don't we have the right to see where it's all going to end? I know, we gave "X-Files" that chance and they blew it. But 24 and Lost are more grounded-let's give the writers an opportunity to give us a satisfying conclusion.
The Simpsons? I'm not a fan, but I know people are still enjoying it. That alone says it should still be on the air.
I'm sorry, but I can digest an episode of ER much more easily than an episode of Grey's Anatomy.
CSI: New York? The CSI that should be kicked off the air is CSI: Miami. David Caruso and his sunglasses have become a joke.

I'm glad some of you aren't TV executives. Lost and 24 are top-quality shows that perform well. Just because they're not in your taste doesn't mean that they should be canceled, I mean come on.

LOST: great this season, except for Nikki/Paulo ep.
ER: I dont mind this year, its good again.
Simpsons: I stopped watching regularly, but I still like it.
According to Jim: crap that makes MTV programming look good.

According to Jim is one of the more clean and innocent shows with a taste of good natured kidding between the sexes maybe because there is no sex and cursing some people do not like that-Tuff!
Lost is a series that needs to bring a thoughtful ending to -I enjoy the actors and the new twist or disc overies about the characters- it definitely has you guessing as to what is going on
Simpsons-give me a break!
24- hard for me to compareto another season ,just started watching this yr. and very compleying-I like it!

I totally disagree. According to Jim is mindless slapstick comedy and after working all day in the "real world" it really makes me laugh. Does every show have to be serious and complicated? Can't we just laugh for 30 minutes a week at a guy who goes through life generally happy doing silly things. I bet you didn't like the I Love Lucy series either?
