Lots of Robert Vaughn-oriented news today: not only is Hustle returning to AMC tonight at 10pm, but it looks like the legal fight over The Man From U.N.C.L.E. DVDs might finally be over.
Vaughn tells the Akron Beacon Journal that he is getting together with NCIS star David McCallum (he played Ilya Kuryakin on the 60s spy show, the partner to Vaughn's Napoleon Solo) to record commentaries and extras for the set, which should be out by the end of this year.
Oddly, Vaughn had already recorded four hours of extras for the show, but then the legal fight delayed the release of those DVDs, so it looks like those extras will be lost forever.

Horray!
The first couple of seasons were the best: black and white, fairly serious, with touches of sly humour. The series drew its inspiration in those early days from the first Sean Connery James Bond movies, but in the years that followed, sadly chose to mimic the campiness of the then top-rated Batman TV series. Big mistake.
One thing remained great throughout: the music, starting with the killer opening U.N.C.L.E. theme; the Man From Thrush theme, however, was even better!

Season 1 "Man From UNCLe" featured an episode that was the first time that Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner appeared on screen together. And as a special added bonus, Werner Klemperer was in the same episode!

HURRAH! Man do I love Man From UNCLE, even the later, ultra-cheesy seasons.

Does anyone know if Hustle on AMC will have less footage than the BBC version to premiere in May? Or did the AMC deal to co-finance the 4th season reduce the length of the episodes?
