(S11E10) So much of this season has been about jockeying for position on flights and very little has been about challenges. Finally, after we spent a lot of time in the airport at the beginning of the episode, we got to see some really cool challenges. The first Detour was Lost in Translation or Kung Fu Fighting-- with ninjas! I would've chosen that, too. The challenges, unfortunately, were super simple for everybody, but at least they were entertaining to wtch. This week, teams flew more than 1,500 miles from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Hong Kong.
*SPOILERS AHEAD*
Oswald & Danny [1]: I think Oswald and Danny have a real shot at winning this thing. Besides their meltdown last week, they have really been able to keep their cool during stressful times. They were very innovative this week when they found offices for Malaysia and China airlines before the counters actually opened. That jump on the other teams got them an exciting Fast Forward and an easy first place (along with a pretty sweet prize package for the Chinese New Year).
Charla & Mirna [3]: These two made two big mistakes in their race this week, which I found ironic. Mirna was talking about bad karma for the beauty queens because they Yielded Eric & Danielle last week, but Mirna is the one with all the negative energy in this game. She butts in on other people and tries to get ahead of them in line at the airport and then gets completely offended when other people try it. I'm so tired of her. On the flip side, it was great to see Charla excel at the climbing/ninja challenge when both she and Mirna were a little concerned about it. She kicked Danielle's ass!
Eric & Danielle [4]: Ah, frick! These two don't deserve to be in the race any longer. They had both given up on this face and were fine with being eliminated and seemed a little disappointed that it was a non-elimination round. I had a feeling that was going to happen, by the way, because there are still two more episodes left and the final episode is usually the top three teams.
Dustin & Kandice [2]: The advantage that the beauty queens have is they make decisions quickly and they stick to them. This week, that's how they got ahead of Charla and Mirna during the Detour. All the talk of "karma" at the beginning of the episode was a bunch of crap and I'm glad the beauty queens didn't let it get to them. I sure would like to see these two in the final three.
Next week: Another Yield. Revenge!
I'm giving this one a 4. Learn more about the ratings here.

Well the fix is in. What was supposed to be an elimination leg suddenly isn;t when the producers choice came in last.
At least we get another week of Charla and Mirna.

Oh yay. Another week of listening to Mirna's annoying fake accent. She is the embodiment of Ugly American.

Charla & Mirna DID NOT FOLLOW DIRECTIONS! The clue specifically said to take the Star Ferry to the Hong Kong Island, but they took a cab thru the tunnel. They DID NOT get to HK Island using the prescribed method and should have been made to go back and redo it.

This isn't the only time they have been allowed to skirt the rules. In a past challenge it said walk 1.5 miles on foot and they took a cab. Seems when there is a little person involved they over look the rules. Just my opinion.

The link to the ratings information goes to a blank page. Is this still a 1-7 scale?
Doug, that's exactly what my wife thought. Weird that they weren't penalized.
And, Kristin, that accent that Mirna puts on makes me laugh every time. Does that really help non-English speakers understand her English?!

When Mirna and Shmirna found out the taxi had taken them to Hong Kong Island, they were on a ferry heading away from the island. Obviously, they rode the ferry away from the island, and then back, so technically they took a ferry to the island.

Now I love Oswald and Danny and want them to win, but...
I thought you could only use the FFWD once in the race? Didn't they do one with Uchenna and Joyce (counting the steps)? It bugged me throughout the episode, but them getting the really awesome prize at the end made up for my confusion.
As for the first comment about "the fix." Yeah right. I'm sure the producer's want to get rid of Eric and Danielle as much as we all do. They bring pretty much nothing on the race except a possible showdown with the Beauty Queens next week. Plus if the producers had their way then Rob and Amber would still be here. I shudder the thought.
Go Oswald/Danny!

When will AR follow it's own rules? Mirna and the annoyance never follow a single clue properly but are never penalized. Oswald and Danny already used the FF with Uchenna and Joyce. Bunch of BS is what this season is. This teams need to get a clue. Yield is part of the game; if u don't like it don't race. The entire first half is annoying with that karma crap. More of the yield crap next week. These days AR has more melo drama than a soap.

They are following their own rules:
- When the intersection was introduced last season it was stated that teams could use two Fast Forwards - David & Mary and the Cho Brothers had the opportunity to use it but chose not to.
- Charla & Mirna did not break the rules. Their cab driver took them to the Hong Kong Island terminal but they boarded the ferry and traveled to Kowloon (thinking they were going to Hong Kong Island). They then traveled back from Kowloon to Hong Kong on the ferry. Had they driven to the Hong Kong Terminal and then headed for the Old Police Headquarters they could have been assessed a penalty. Charla and Mirna are stupid but they lived within the bounds of the rules.
- Where exactly was the fix grumpyoldman? Since teams no longer have their money taken from them at the end of a stage (starting last season) it doesn't make sense for there to be a non-elimination with three players. Remember a team that has been "marked for elimination" has to finish first in a stage or take a 30 minute penalty. I you finish first in the final stage the "mark" is removed, and if you finish second, who cares? That was planned as a non-elimination stage.
- And by the way I'd rather watch Rob & Amber than Eric & Danielle any day. You may hate them but either Rob or Amber is smarter than Eric & Danielle combined.

I just love Charla and Mirna! I have been a fan of theirs since the first time when they were on the Race. Yeah, Mirna can sometimes be annoying and abrasive, but I think that's the lawyer in her. And it's so great to see this team with such an obvious handicap making it so far. I don't agree that Mirna "carries" Charla all the time. There are situations because of Charla's size where Mirna has had to take more than her share, but Charla is one tough cookie, and holds her own more often than not. They received so much animosity from the other players last time, and to a certain extent this time too, that I'm happy to see them excel. Besides, they're a hoot. I laugh more at them than any of the others. Thanks, Brent, for pointing out that it was the Taxi Cab driver who took Charla and Mirna to Hong Kong Island by taxi--I don't think they're stupid, but they sure made a costly mistake by not asking someone before they boarded the ferry where it was going.
I'd like to see them win, and if not them then Oswald and Danny, who I think are two of the nicest competitors ever.
I'm just having a very hard time supporting the beauty queens. I still have bad feelings about them from the last time. I know they're very competitve, and grudgingly I'll admit they're capable, but they're still sorta b**chy.
Eric and Danielle? Fuggedaboutit! I was not happy when it turned out to be a non-elimination round. They're just irritating and don't deserve to be here at all.

Ewwww, How can anyone like Charla and Mirna??? They are so ANNOYING!!! While watching the show... even just looking at them makes me cringe... they don't eve have to open their mouths anymore and I'm still irritated with their presense on the television. It's so weird, I was rooting for them at the start but their whining and stupidity, plus Mirna's fake accents and contradictions are just getting OLD! I think the beauty queens are not only smart, but they are sweet and they deserve to win! I would also like to see Eric or Danielle to win, because they are a young couple =) Not a big fan of Danny and Oswald, they're annoying as well.
