Keith Olbermann has a new gig.
Or should I say "another gig," as he'll still be host of MSNBC's Countdown. But he's going to add a co-hosting position on NBC's Football Night In America, the pre-game show that airs at 7pm on Sunday nights before the NFL game that NBC telecasts.
Olbermann has a long history in TV sports, having hosted ESPN's SportsCenter with Dan Patrick years ago (he was one of the models for the characters on Sports Night) and his own show on FOX Sports Network that was good but didn't last too long. This will be his first job in network sports in several years, other than what he does on Dan Patrick's radio show. Olbermann will join Bob Costas, Cris Collinsworth, Jerome Bettis, and Tiki Barber, who started on NBC this morning.

Perfect. Although I am grateful to Olbermann for being one of the few liberal-leaning commentators on the airwaves now, I still miss him on Sportscenter. I watched him and Dan Patrick whenever they hosted. It was appointment tv. Sportscenter hasn't had the same jive since they left.

This is nothing short of fantastical. Now All they need to do is fix Monday Football commentary by canning Tony Kornhieser and the NFL will be well covered.

CC, don't forget that KO co-hosts one of the three hours of the daily Dan Patrick radio show on ESPN radio. The two still make a great pair.
As for adding a politically-tinged voice to the studio, I'm willing to bet that KO will avoid the mistakes made by Rush Limbaugh during his brief stint as a football coordinator and will stick entirely to football and nothing but football.

Wow, Olbermann, Costas, Barber and Colinsworth in the same studio! I hope NBC plans on moving to a different studio to accomodate their massive ego's.
I loved Olbermann on SC, but lately he seems very self-righteous.

Anyone who follows football knows how great this is for the game and the fans. Coverage has been too much about old veterans joking around, less about intelligent reporting and analysis.

this really sucks. KO loves to hear himself talk.
NBC continues its crusade to completely ruin its schedule. Jeff Zucker continues to destroy this network.
