Every year in April (aka the time networks executives meet to prepare the schedule for the following season), Kristin from E! tries to save one show. A few weeks before her column hits the Internet, she asks fans to vote for the show they want to save. With these results in hand, she writes a column devoted to the shows that got the most votes in the hope it'll help the networks make the right decision and save those shows. She will also write a support letter for the show that got the most votes.Votes for the seventh annual "Save One Show" campaign poured in. Kristin reports that a record-breaking 6 millions votes were tallied up this year. Due to extraordinary voting circumstances (results dramatically changed in the last 24 hours polls were opened), E!'s Kristin will try to save not just one show but two. Somewhat not surprisingly, The CW's Tuesday night lineup won the "Save One Show" campaign: Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars.
The ten series that got the most votes on the poll are (in order from most to least): Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars, One Tree Hill, Supernatural, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Crossing Jordan, Friday Night Lights, How I Met Your Mother, What About Brian and Jericho.
In the coming days, Kristin will write to The CW head honchos to support both shows and will also include messages fans wrote.
Do you agree with those "Save One Show" results? I hope that Veronica Mars sticks around for another season.

I think Gilmore Girls have been on the air a little too long, but that was the former writers fault.
Gilmore Girls at most should get a 13 episode season to end the show "right".
VM should continue for at least another season, it's not like CW has anything better to show anyways. They should have picked up Invasion.

The fact that Gilmore Girls was even an option turns the entire poll into a joke. The Gilmore Girls next season rides 100% on whether or not Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham agree to renew there contracts which are up after this season.
I like that Kristin tries to create awareness for shows that can possibly be canceled, but there were just too many choices in this years poll. Hopefully she'll narrow down the options next year, or split them up into categories (drama/comedy/trash that shouldn't have made it onto the air in the first place).
And Veronica Mars is a great show, and I know OTH has a very loyal fan base, but both shows have won before. If winning once didn't save the show maybe it's time to just let it die.

Long running shows like Gilmore Girls shouldn't be on the list. They had a good run and now it's time for their departure. (And trust me,.. I'm a loyal GG's fan)
I think shows on the air for three years or less should be the only ones on the list.
Personally, my vote is for Studio 60,.. but something tells me that I'm in the minority for that vote.

Gilmore Girls has had a long enough run. Wrap the show up and let it go.
My vote is for Studio 60...

I voted for HIMYM, even though I watch 5 of these shows that's the only one I'll be upset about if it gets cancelled. It's really come into it's own this season.

I have no doubt One Tree Hill is returning... the numbers are pretty good for that timeslot and the night overall. Still, it's nice to see so many people want to keep it up.
Not to mention, hell, it still beat out The OC. :P
Veronica and Supernatural are both worthy of returning... Supernatural is getting quite good actually, especially if they keep up the higher-profile guest actors, like BSG's Tricia Helfer.

I agree with whoever said the poll should be limited to new shows that need a chance to grow. I'm a loyal GG fan, but it's had its run. Save a more worthy show: like FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS.

Oh my god, Friday Night Lights is the show that deserves to be saved among all the shows on that list. And I actually LIKED Studio 60. But it just doesn't compare to the amazing quality of FNL. None of those shows do.

I agree that Friday Night Lights is the superior series on that list. But I would like to see Veronica Mars greenlighted for a fourth season. If Veronica gets at least another sixteen episodes, that will bring the series episode total to eighty, enough to ensure mass syndication. I've seen a lot of series not get their due until they went into reruns. And I see that happening with Veronica.

I voted for HIMYM. I felt like GG had run it's course and that probably the CW had made it's mind up about VM. Plus I knew there was more support for the CW shows on Eonline.
HIMYM is an instant classic.

I voted for HIMYM it's a consistantly hysterical show, and it's always entertaining. I'll be super dissapointed if it doesn't come back again next season.

I think Veronica Mars should stay out of the choices. Friday Night Lights was good the 1 time I watched it, so was How I met Your Mother so they would be good to stick around too. VM however is the only one on the list that I watch weekly. Kirsten Bell is great and she carries the show better than many show leads. It is also the smartest and wittiest show on the CW (suck on that Gilmores!). I watched Studio 60 too but that just lousy in the end so it can be canned. The rest I've never watched.

Am I the only one who thinks that neither Gilmore Girls or Veronica Mars should come back. Neither show resembles the show I fell in love with. Gilmore Girls has had a well documented decline and needs to end soon before I lose all the love I ever had for the show. Veronica Mars has become a shell of the first season I fell in love with, Veronica is incapable of happiness and forgiveness and has to bring everyone else down with her. 95% of the rest of the cast gets very little screen time and the mysteries are not nearly as compelling or interesting. There is no way I will be watching if this show jumps into the future and Veronica is working for the FBI, Veronica wouldn't work for the FBI she doesn't follow the law, only when it suits her needs. Seriously these shows needs to end.
Pick up promising shows instead. Friday Night Lights is the best show on television right now and desrves a summer of buzz to get more fans for next season and How I Met Your Mother is consistently funny and fun. These are the shows that need saving.

These results really have no credibility whatsoever. Do 1.9 million people even watch Veronica Mars?

Hm... I don't know. I also think that Gilmore Girls was there for a long time but honestly I could watch Lor and Rory another couple of years just doing what they do. I like it. The writing is still good and even though it depends on the contracts - err, excuse me, isn't "budget" a reason to cancel a show as much as ratings since ratings determine the advertising revenue? It's ALL about money so if the amount Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham are low enough to make it financially possible to do the show for another couple of years why not?
I'd love to see Luke and Lor live together all with Luke's daughter and everything and maybe throw in a baby for Rory then trying to juggle their high profile journalist job with that as well as a cute boyfriend (who knows who that would be since we don't know where the whole the whole Logan story is heading) There's enough to be explored there.

I am a bit curious why they are limiting the shows to drama, teen drama and comedy. I mean considering the competition teen drama is always sure to win, they have always had the most loyal fanbase of all the genres. I remember the Roswell Tabasco campaign and even so that show wasn't _that_ good. But people when out of their houses to see another season.
I think sci-fi shows would fit in this list too. Firefly and Dresden files have somewhat similar strong fanbases that would definitely take time to vote online for their show.
Now that said I love the first season of Veronica Mars to death. The wit, the snark, the drama, the mysteries. They are still unmatched. I like the mysteries of the third season, but I miss the feeling that there is an evil mastermind at work behind the scenes. Even so I felt that the second season also fell short of the first. I know its hard for any series, but instead of becoming a shadow of its former self, I wish it would grow more into something bigger. Not that I watched that many episodes of Smallville, but I have a feeling that is what happened with it. Should they cancel VM? I don't know really, its good and as much as I love seeing Kirsten Bell on TV, its not what it used to be. I am not sure going FBI will spice it up enough. I think it might have been better if they actually forgot about time passing and stayed in the high-school setting for ever. I mean isn't that what we somehow all wishes in some weird twisted way, that high-school would stay part of us forever. And that is why we keep watching these teen dramas years after our graduation.
