Office fans go Wikipedia happy

The OfficeFirst Stephen Colbert, now The Office.

On a recent episode of the NBC comedy, boss Michael Scott (Steve Carell) went to Wikipedia for tips on how to fire one of his employees. So fans of the show have, naturally, gone to the site and started to edit the entry on negotiations like crazy. Because, as Michael put it (I'm paraphrasing here, don't remember the exact quote), "having a bunch of people edit a web site is best way to get accurate information."

There has been so much activity on the entry that Wikipedia has had to monitor it, putting it in semi-protected mode (anonymous editors can't post and you can't post if you're a new member). So far fans have made over 100 changes to the entry, some large and some small.

It's amazing how just mentioning a place or a site or a product on TV or in another public forum can suddenly cause so much attention to be put upon it. It's similar to when a celebrity will mention some product during an interview and suddenly get a case of it from the company the next day.

At this moment I'd just like to say that I really love the new Sony LCD televisions and Planters Chocolate-Covered Cashews.
