Seriously. Mario Lopez is supposedly one of the three finalists in the running to take over for Bob Barker when he retires from the long-running CBS game show later this year. The other two finalists? Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Donald Trump.
OK, I'm kidding about those last two names. But would they be more of a ridiculous choice than Dancing with the Stars star Lopez? What do producers see in him that they say, "you know, he might be a good replacement for Bob?"
The other two finalists are actually George Hamilton (or HamilTAN) and Entertainment Tonight host Mark Steines. Steines I can actually see as host. After all, the way you have to host a gossip show is kinda the same as hosting a crazy game show. But Hamilton? That's...interesting. I wonder if he auditioned and what exactly he brought to the show? John O'Hurley and Todd Newton were also interested in the job.
Missing from the list is Dave Price, who supposedly had the job locked up months ago. I wonder what happened?

Seriously! Slater cannot host The Price is Right. It would be a sign of the Apocalypse.

Wasn't Mario indicted for rape in Chula Vista, Ca or Oceanside, CA (some ghetto area near San Diego) a few years back?
A sexual predator hosting a game show. Interesting concept...

Seriously, the show should end when barker's reign ends. It just won't be the same with anybody else.
Don't forget.... have your pet spayed or neutered!

I think George Hamilton would be a good choice. Sure, he's in his sixties but Bob is in his eighties so potentially George could do it for 20+ years.
Adding a young and hip host would be a mistake -- that's not the show's audience.

Marc Summers all the way. He's got the experience, the charisma, and just enough of that smart ass attitude to cleverly deal with moronic contestants who act as if they've never seen the show in their life.

Geez, some people are nasty-minded, malicious jerks. Happy to criticize, denegrate and smear others any chance they get.
bgdc, you are nothing but a mean-spirited gossip-monger. Pathetic.
But why should I expect anything better, when the scab-picking morons get their lead from a "reviewer" who uses "I'm going to vomit" as a headline. You're a real class act Mr. Sassone. You and bgdc deserve each other.

Doesn't matter too much to me. My interest in the show died with Rod Roddy. He was as much a part of tPiR as Bob, the Showcase Showdown, Plinko...

TPIR audience is old and not exactly affluent, although they are very loyal. Think white trash and you have the general idea.
I think it will be hard to replace Bob Barker. Whoever is the replacement has some big shoes to fill.

I don't want a Price is Right without Bob Barker. Can't fathom it. I had enough trouble when he went from brown to white hair. They just better not mess with the format. That'll be too much.

Mario will totally get it - 100% positive. Young (longevity and appeals to younger audiences), nice (appeals to older audiences), good-looking and latino (emerging demographic).

Although she wants the job, I'm glad, very glad Rosie did not get chosen to audition. SHe needs to be banned from TV for several years! Test tapings featuring several potential hosts: George Hamilton, Mario Lopez, and John O' Hurley, Todd Newton and Dave Price.
Mario is by far the best choice among the candidates.
He will not try to imitate Bob, but make it his own and keep the show's success going and going for another 30-40 years! Good luck Mario!!
