I'm bitter. A couple weeks back, I Netflixed the movie Serenity. The first time I saw it, in theaters, I was so excited that Firefly fans had rallied to get it made. Watching it again, a cold, hard realization dawned on me: There will never be any more Firefly, ever again. The TV show is dead and gone, and there probably won't be any more movies. I went through all the stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and finally, grudging acceptance.
Firefly is just one of many shows sent to the television graveyard much too early. But what if we had the chance to bring our favorites back from the dead? That's just what the writers at AOL Television and TV Squad decided to do. Not only did we name the shows we'd like to revive, we outlined how they could make their grand return.
Take a look at our choices, then tell us which show you wish could come back from the dead and why. We'll take the best ones and publish them in two weeks.

It's important to remember that there's a difference between "shows we miss" and "shows that were cancelled before their time."
Murphey Brown? Really? Was that something that was cancelled before it's time?
For instance, they've started showing Wonder Years on ION, and I love love love that show and I've not been able to get the theme song out of my head all day... but I wouldn't want them to start producing new episodes all of them sudden. Maybe a reunion special. Maybe.
That said, here's my list:
Freaks and Geeks
Undeclared
Sports Night
Mission Hill

This list is useless without Deadwood and Arrested Development.

Two shows:
1) Da Vinci's Inquest -- which due to American popularity has decided to make a movie that continues the story. Also, the show was cancelled last year and it would be easier to bring the cast back together.
2) Columbo -- Just because Peter Falk is awesome.

Firefly, Sports Night, Cupid, and one that hasn't been mentioned, Profit. If we can include Brit imports, Rockface-- one of the greatest cliffhanger endings ever, after the second series; everyone on the rescue squad is on the mountain, looking for the radio transponder of two team members who were trapped overnight by an snow avalanche. Another avalanche starts. Fade to credits; there was no third series.

Firefly, Wonderfalls, Dead Like Me, Arrested Development
I wonder how many times shows on this list will appear, because as I write this, this makes 3 Firefly and 3 Arrested Development.

Murphy Brown ran for 10 seasons, Melrose Place for 7, Buffy for 7, The West Wing 7, Larry Sanders 6, and Ab Fab 5... even Felicity and thirtysomething ran for four each. When it seems like most shows are canceled after a half dozen episodes, those are all very healthy runs. I realy don't like this list at all.
That said, Firefly, Cupid, and Star Trek are good choices, I liked Love Monkey but I don't think it had too many fans, and I've heard good things about Keen Eddie. The Tick live action show had its moments but the animated version was far superior.
My list would've included several mentioned in earlier comments: Arrested Development, Wonderfalls, Freaks & Geeks, Greg the Bunny, Deadwood... plus Andy Richter Controls the Universe, the Critic, Brisco County Jr., The Inside, Line of Fire, Action, Police Squad... and obviously I think I'd have to start trimming this list down. But all quality shows axed before their times.

Of course, Serenity, and Sports Night too. And even though it's sorta coming back, I'm still throwing Futurama in. It deserves more than a couple DVD movies that are then 'chopped' into a half-season's worth of shows. It belongs as a regular series on network TV.

Aside from the previously mention "Deadwood," "Freaks and Geeks," and "Arrested Development," I have a few to add:
1) "Action" - Loved the David Leisure cameo where he played himself asa studio secuity guard. "Aren't you Joe Isuzu?"
2) Replace the live-action "Tick" with the animated one. Much funnier.
3) "The Critic" - The episode where his parents are lost in a plane crash is one of the funniest half-hours in TV history.
4) "Home Movies"
5) "News Radio" - Find a better replacement for Phil Hartman and you can still make it work.
6) "Carnivale" - It was just getting good.
7) "The Job" - Although it paved the way for the better "Rescue Me."

Yeah, that list was pretty stupid. The chick who wrote about "My So-Called Life" seems to have forgotten that Jordan and Angela DID end up together in the last episode. Duh!
I was suprised "Freaks and Geeks" wasn't on there. I just watched the whole series and felt pretty sad afterwards that the show had ended 8 years ago and there was nothing I could do about it.
I liked "Action" a lot too and wish it'd lasted longer...

Someone give me some love for the late, lamented "Now and Again."
Great, great show and I have no idea why it's not available on DVD.

We wanted to call out shows that, even if they ran for many seasons, we miss. Basically, any show that's not currently airing was up for grabs.
I still miss Sex and the City, and that had a good, long run. There's just nothing like it on TV.

- Freak & Geeks (...NBC broke my heart when they let this one go)
- Joan of Arcadia (...Unbelievably cancelled just as Satan was making his entrance on the show - I pleaded with God to make CBS save this one)
- The Nine (...I really DID want to know what happened in the bank during the robbery)
- Seinfeld (...I miss these guys so much - thank god there is syndication and DVD releases)
- The Young Riders (...ok, I'm really dating myself with this one but I was absolutely inconsolable when it ended after 3 seasons - where have all the cowboys gone ?)

Throw in my vote for striking the shows that had a 7+ season run. Can't bring something back from the dead that had a good life.

"Once and Again" made the list, but what about Glenn Gordon Caron's quirky "Now and Again"? Middle-aged businessman Michael Wiseman is killed by a subway train, and his brain is transplanted to a genetically engineered super body in a government project. Wiseman's new existence as Michael Newman (get it?) is highly classified, but all he wants is to be able to go home and see his wife and daughter. Eric Close ("Without a Trace") and Dennis Haysbert ("24", "The Unit") starred. Easily one of the most underappreciated shows of the 1999-2000 season, and it left a great cliffhanger unresolved.

And let me echo the votes for Firefly, Freaks and Geeks and Arrested Development. Finally got to see Wonderfalls on DVD and liked that a lot too. Still haven't gotten around to Keen Eddie, but hoping to soon.
