When I first heard about the Pillow Fight League, a team of women in very little clothing who engage in pillow fights, I immediately thought of that line from The Simpsons when the family is at an auto race and the announcer says, "And now, something for the guys!" to which Homer replies, "Finally!"
So, if you're like Homer and think there just aren't enough chances to see scantily-clad women on television, start praying to the God of TV Lust that the Pillow Fight League makes it to television.
Producers Eddie October and Al Berman, who acquired the television rights to the "sport," will be pitching the concept to networks later this month.
The ladies of the Pillow Fight League have stage names like "Boozy Suzy" and "Betty Clock'er," and are "empowered," according to October. Also, their nicknames imply they enjoy getting drunk and spending time in the kitchen, which should attract that untapped demographic of males who arrived here recently through a time vortex from the year 1949.
OK, though, you really want this idea to catch on? I say toss out the real pillow fighting and make it fake, like professional wrestling. Chicks whopping each other with pillows will get old fast, but add a few dramatic storylines and some evil team members who fill their with pillow cases with rocks and broken glass, and you've got yourself a hit.

You know, it's not every day you see a news story involving pillow fights. Even stranger is a day with TWO stories involving pillow fightings.
While I'm very much for this Pillow Fight league, you must be warned that there are those in our midst who see pillow fighting as inherently evil and corrupting to our children. Those people are called...Canadians! Case in point:

Actually, the PFL is Canadian, based in Toronto, and only started expanding into the USA this past year.
I've seen the pillow fight league in action, and I was disappointed. There was too much real fighting between butchy women - nothing sexy about it at all!

As if Reality TV hasn't gone far enough, now pillow fighting? Sheeesh! I thought professional Poker was stretching it, and airing competitions of video football showing the video game and occasionally the players themselves seems to be pushing the limits of desperation for something to air. Although Dart tournaments are somewhat entertaining, I find Backgammon very boring. Is there no end to what they'll put on the air? I'm waiting for someone to come up with the idea of filming Rock-Paper-Scissors competitions. Then I'll know the world has gone completely nuts!

I'm really going to throw up! I wonder when my cable company is going to offer non porn programming! Almost every, single channel either has a commercial with naked women, or show with naked men/women. I'm so sick of this crap. You used to have to pay extra for porn flicks, am I going to have to pay extra for "family programming"? This world is in "THE" handbasket already! Seriously though, I'm taking the cable box out on Monday, this is where I draw the line.

The PFL is on it's last legs in Toronto. Local fans have stopped going because the joke has become old, the girls are all butch (and are offended that people think the events are sexy rather than 'empowering' as they foolishly believe and the fights are pretty dull, violent but dull, zero stagemenship. The organizers have also come under fire in the underground media (thespecial.ca) for the way that they've fed off the mis-placed enthusasim of the girls involved.

There is a pillow fight league out of Indy that is much better. These girls train with real UFC and Bodog veterans and the fighting is real, not a campy sideshow. You can see their photos at www.pillowfightusa.com and http://www.mccannproductions.com/PFU. You'll see the difference.
