Like many of you, I always assumed that Rosie O'Donnell had a masters in physics. I mean, why else would she be spouting off on national television that the WTC 7 was probably destroyed by a controlled detonation?
I actually make it a point to refer to Rosie's wisdom on every question I have in life. Right now I have a cold cheese sandwich sitting in my kitchen, but I'm not going to grill it until I find out from Rosie for certain that heat will melt cheese. She seems to have an understanding of these things my simple mind can't quite grasp.
At any rate, Popular Mechanics, just as it had done previously, explains to Rosie, and to everyone else, why the towers fell the way they did.
To be honest, I'm less concerned with Rosie's ignorant statement and more concerned with the audience members who applauded her after she said it (see the clip below). The View is based on the idea of people yakking first and thinking later, but it does concern me that people would accept what she said with blind faith.
I'm not an expert on physics, and the fact that you're currently reading a television blog and not a scientific journal should prove that. However, all of us have to accept what experts tell us to some degree: if I go to a doctor, I have to accept he knows what he's talking about. Of course, opinions may vary from one doctor (or any other expert) to another, and the more one educates themselves on a subject, the better. At this point, however, I think every theory that assumes WTC 7 was brought down by explosives has been sufficiently disproved in the scientific realm, and not just by one rogue scientist, but by many. This is Rosie versus overall scientific consensus, and it seems fairly clear to me where to place my trust.

Rosie O'Donnell got to be the stupidest woman on TV right now. She stated "...first time in history, steel was melted by fire ...it is physically impossible." I guess she never heard of a forge before. How does she think we've been shaping steel all these years? I think fire has something to do with it.

I say we stick her in a biulding and blow it up, see if she's right.
And there are rumours that she could get her own show and would be paid 40 million a year. Who would watch her?

I am so disappointed with the tone of this article and the comments so far.
How no one can see how the WTC 7 was detonated by explosives is absolutely beyond me. How can you watch that video, and not think that building is pancaking down like something you've seen on TV.
No high rise building has ever collapsed due to fire, before 9/11, when three did, and WTC 7 was not even hit by an airplane.
I'm not even going to get into the sophisticated anti-aircraft batteries surrounding the Pentagon that were silent that morning, not to mention the lack of plane wreckage around the building and the size of the hole being far far too small to accommodate a jet of that size, or the hour long delay in scrambling jets to protect the nation's capital, when there could have been jets there within minutes, or the hole in the ground in Pennsylvania, complete with no bodies, and no plane parts, its just way too much to get into here.
go to this site - http://www.govsux.com/9_11.htm
or
Watch the excellent documentary 'Loose Change', available on Google Video, YouTube, and many other places. It explains everything that is counter to the official story of 9/11, and I promise you will be stunned by the end of it.
The ignorance in the world and the US in particular about this day is shocking, because it was the day that everything changed, one of those seminal moments that puts the world on a different course for decades. And it was a day when those within the US government attacked their own nation, killed 3000 of their own citizens and blamed it on Muslim extremists that were sitting on top of the largest oil reserves in the world.
WAKE THE FUCK UP

No high rise building was ever hit by a fully fueled jumbo jet before either.
Seriously. Conspiracy theorists are a sad bunch. When their mind (I use the singular because they all think as one) can't comprehend something, their defense mechanism is to create an absurdly implausible scenario of how they believe it went down. Ignoring solid science and evidence.
Now technically the steel did not "melt", but heat of such intensity of burning jet fuel does indeed cause steel to warp. This warping caused the flooring to buckle then fall. One floor would fall on top of the next, increasing it's weight for each floor it went down. It really isn't that mind boggling on why they fell almost straight down.
The building 7 theorists amuse me even more. Debris was raining down on the side of the building. Take a look at the 9/11 commission report. There is a photo of building 7 with a chunk carved out of it as if someone used a giant melon baller to scoop out an area about a dozen floors in height and about a quarter of the buildings depth. The amazing story is how it stood so long.
Getting back to Rosie, it really isn't any surprise. She has been using her mouth before engaging her brain for years.

1) Pentagon did not have/nor does it have anti-aircraft batteries. Unless you count the chili and the nearby windows.
2)I have a friend who SAW the plane go down (and heard the impact) on the pentagon. He lived at a condo in arlington. His condo overlooks the hill (the pentagon is on the other side of the hill). Plus besides the 100 eyewitness accounts - They recovered bodies AND the planes fuselage from the wreckage.
3) they recovered blood, dna, and evidence at the field in PA. Even the miss-quoted out of context guy on loosechange says so. .
4) the funniest thing is that people who can actually watch loose change and believe the line of reasoning "doesn't seem like this plane would of crashed like this" hmmm, yeah sure every plane crash must crash the same! good point loosey's!

Gee, you all sound so threatened by Rosie.
Comments like she should shut the f*** up, be blown up, etc, and for what? Giving her opinion.
There's a lot of stuff going on right in this administration that screws the troops far more than Rosie's opinion ever could. Just remember, it is possible to despise what Bush has done but still support the troops.
Boy, I'd be willing to bet that most of the people on here trashing Rosie are the first ones to squawk about how the troops die for our freedoms, including freedom of speech.
Funny how fast you'd like to muzzle that freedom when an opinion makes you uncomfortable.

I actually like the way Rosie spouts off all the time the way she does. It's a good thing. Really.
Not buying it? Let me explain.
You see, the greater Rosie's propensity for waxing hebetudinous the faster her dim-witted following will dwindle. When enough people quit paying attention to her the media outlets that help spread her brand of uninformed opinion will no longer put her in the public eye. When that day comes, we'll have one less fool acting foolish.
Another plus about Rosie's constant and loud foot-in-mouth act is it brings the kooks out of the woodwork. Now, I don't know about the rest of you, but watching kooks emerge from woodwork is a helluva lot more entertaining than watching that silly groundhog forecast the weather. Happens a lot more frequently than once a year, too.

Dearest misguided Dawn,
We have no desire to quelch the Bill of Rights when it comes to Rosie or anyone other idiot out there. Nonetheless, it is my "right" to say 1) she's an idiot, and 2) that her hatemongering and grandstanding on a national stage is both inappropriate and an abuse of the bully pulpit she is (TEMPORARILY) inhabiting.
Affectionately yours,

Yes, she should be told she's an idiot and to be quiet by other private citizens, such as us, when her opinion is stupid. Such criticisms and suggestions are every bit as much what free speech is about as the original statement. She's free to say something utterly stupid and the rest of us are also free to point out its utter stupidity and tell her she should shut her cakehole.
Precisely the same as when holocaust deniers blather on, or when people claiming black people are like apes spout their wonderfully silly opinions.

Dear Erroneous Nick,
There's only one problem with your theory: Waxing hebetudinous to dim-witted followers has not hastened the bloviating end to morons like Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh. Back to the drawing board.
And as for missed-the-point Joel:
Of course its your right to say how you feel about Rosie. Go back and read my post again. The whole point of it was freedom of speech. For all of us.
You have a right to your opinion, just like me, and just like Rosie. I was referring not to those who disagree with her or think she's an ass, but those for whom her opinion so unhinges them that they would want her muzzed, blown up, etc, for saying what she thinks.

So if a bunch of us tell you that your words are stupid that means you have to shut your cakehole?
Wow! If only I had known heretofore that shutting up a moron was so easy. You simply spew forth your ideological viewpoint as fact and the other person must cease and desist!
Why didn't someone tell me this before Watcher?

Since this was the first time in history of our country, that planes were used in this manner, how could even the smartest people among,us know what could or could not happen? It's not like experiments,
were done before hand....hundreds of gallons of jet fuel, high speed=a fiery explosion...remember crash of TWA Flight 800?the ocean itself was aflame,by.guess what???JET FUEL......

It baffles me that people can not only be so stupid, but so obnoxious about it. Like the above red poster.
Honestly. Who do you think planted the explosives? How was everyone involved silenced?
An airplane was hit with a plane. Fuel went everywhere. It collapsed. Hundreds of tons of weight slammed into the ground in seconds. This weakened the nearby buildings. How is this hard to comprehend?
And STOP CITING LOOSE CHANGE! It is a film done by an 18 year old film major at a low quality college. 18 years old. Film major. College with low academic standards. How much more proof do you need that the guy filming it had no clue what he was talking about and jumped to useless conjecture rather than trying to understand?

I in no way agree with the claims of loose change nor beleive in these crazy 9/11 theories. But a person's age, perceived quality of college, or major are in no way basis for whether what they say is correct. By that logic Bush's age and college experience should make him the most knowledgeable person in America.

Let me start off by saying that I watched all three buildings fall from about 4 blocks away north of the towers. Had I woken up on time that day I would have probably been under them around the time it all happened.
For anyone to think that 7 World went down for any other reason than the damage it took from Towers 1 & 2 are insane. When The towers collapsed all of that debris was blown outward into the surrounding building. 7 World acted as a shield for Greenwich street when that happen taking all of the brunt from anything headed that way. How do I know? Because I watched the smoke make its way around the building. If it wasn't there more damage would have been north of 7.
Like someone else said, it is amazing the building lasted as long as it did considering the damage it took.
If there were charges in the building, why wouldn't any of them have gone off when the building was hit and set on fire? Why would they have waited about 8hrs later to detonate them?
7 came down from the collateral damage and nothing else.
I wish people would spend as much energy into getting the towers rebuilt as they do coming up with ideas as to how they came down.
