Fans of 30 Rock can rest easy: the show has been renewed for the 2007-08 season.
Even though the Tina Fey/Alec Baldwin/Tracy Morgan show is on NBC's "Comedy Done Right" Thursday lineup and has picked up viewer and critic steam since a so-so start, it was still iffy as to whether or not the show would actually be renewed for a second season. I'm not really sure why it was iffy, because I always thought the show would be renewed, especially since the show moved to Thursdays and people started talking about it more. I just wish Rachel Dratch was given more to do on the show.
The show returns tomorrow with one of those "supersized" episodes.

Yay!
Maybe if this show keeps building steam and gets big like The Office, they'll realize they need to let shows grow rather than kill em early.

I bet the show was realy close to getting canceled, but then Tina Fay gave the network heads the "you do not cross a Sugarbaker woman" speech, thus saving the day.
Seriously, I love this show. Great news.

I'll be interested to see what NBC does with Thursday at the upfronts -- whether the current lineup will stay more or less intact or get scattered to the wind.
Despite the buzz of "30 Rock," "Earl" and "Office," none of those shows do particularly well against ABC and CBS, and I don't see it getting much better.

This is good news, as I find this show nearly equaling the Office in quality. Thursdays have become my favorite day almost.
Rachel Dratch should indeed have more roles!

Great! I see this show gaining more and more audience like The Office. I'd also like to see them use Rachel Dratch more.

I don't know anyone who watches this show, and every time I tried it myself, it just wasn't that funny. Some of the characters are just off-putting.
The only thing I catch on Thursday night is the Office. The rest of the shows are-- meh

JustMe - I find the characters on other shows rather predictable. They never say anything I find absurd or out of left field. Since the departure of Arrested Development I've been longing for characters who make me laugh because I can't see their punch line coming.
30 Rock is the only show on TV that has multiple quotable characters. From Kenneth to Tracy to Jack...one of them will always say something outrageously funny and unpredictable.
The Office - maybe Dwight and once in awhile Kevin or Creed will saying something outrageously funny.
My Name is Earl - Joy. That's it. I still can't help but laugh when I think of one line: "Do me on that pin ball machine like in that porno Jodie Foster did."
Scrubs - never funny. Every line it telegraphed.

I couldn't agree more with some of the comments posted previously...how can a show that receives and Emmy (Baldwin) and has obviously improved writing wise over the length of the season get cancelled without a second season. It makes me crazy how quick the networks are to over-react based on Nielson....TV viewership has changed substantially and now with DVR's/Tivo etc....there are way more people watching that are being accounted for....but advertisers still based it on the dinosaur system of the Nielsons.....
A cryin shame....THANK GOD THEY PICKED THIS SHOW BACK UP...IT RANKS HIGH ON THE COMEDY LADDER....PAY ATTENTION NBC....freakin idiots!!!!
