Honoring my mother's timeless suggestion that if I don't have anything nice to say, I shouldn't say anything at all, I won't go into any great detail about how I think Sex and the City is not only one of the worst series ever created, but also one of the worst things created in the history of the known universe. I also won't tell you how I'd rather let children ice skate across my face than endure the sub-soap opera dialogue and "clever" snarkiness of that show.
Nevertheless, the show has its fans, and there ain't nothing wrong with love-love-lovin' a TV show. I may not like Sex and the City, but that won't stop me from telling you that Perez Hilton is reporting that a big screen adaptation of Sex and the City is most certainly going to happen. You'll have to take Hilton's claim for whatever it's worth, as there hasn't been a real announcement yet that I'm aware of.
So what do you guys think? Is this a good idea, or is it too late to revisit the trials and tribulations of these ladies?

Sex and the City will always hold a special place in my heart as the show that my ex-girlfriend and mother watched together and got over their petty differences regarding my mom being a over-protective C U Next Tuesday and Erika being a bitchy gold digger. Awww... good times, good times.
That said, it was always one of my guilty pleasures. There was something about all the overdone double entendres and lame puns that made me excited about seeing thirty something women spend money and blow guys left and right.
As for the movie, seeing forty something women act like sluts is the reason I never saw the final seasons. We will know this has been confirmed when they've started to unthaw Kim Cattral.

while i was a fan of satc while it was on, i see no need for a movie now. much of the series' ending went against everything the show stood for prior to that, so no thanks.

Sarah Jessica Parker is the ugliest woman on the face of the earth. Someone on TV said she looks like a foot, and I laughed myself silly over that comment, because that pretty much sums her up. Why she was always front and center in all the publicity shots, overshadowing her beautiful co-stars - I just don't get what everyone sees in her. All those shoes her character loves to buy should definitely go on her face. It would be a minor improvement.

I liked SATC, but it took a turn for the worst when SJP became the Executive Producer. All of a sudden Samantha got cancer, Miranda got pregnant, and the boring one got baby issues--while Carrie just remained Carrie. I mean, she wasn't even discreet with her disdain and marginalization of the other characters.
The rumors were that Kim Catrall hated the script, and killed the movie years ago. She probably died in it. If they do the movie, I hope the sexy Samantha comes back, and the show returns to the show I enjoyed watching.

First of all, 38 is NOT menopausal. If that's what you think, hopefully you will indeed be that, ABC. Whether or not SJP is pretty, is a matter of opinion, and I'm not going to argue about that. I also think that this movie is irrelevant now, because the series have been off the air for so long.
However, one of the reasons the show was as popular as it was, was that the main character wasn't an unshaven disturbed misogynist with a hangover.

lovelain: I totally agree with you about the finale of SATC. All four women were neatly paired off at the end, whereas one of the main themes of the show was that women don't need men to feel "complete." What kind of BS was that?
Also: Carrie ending up with Big was VERY unrealistic. If you go back and look at how he treated her in earlier episodes, it's completely unrealistic -- not to mention a complete insult to the integrity of Carrie's character (i.e. she moved on and dated better men, yet still went back to the one who tortured her).

Oh I'm sorry, I should have said PREmenopausal. Do you know that some woman start menopause early at the age of 30? I help treat woman with such problems. But what do I know. It's a matter of opinion whether the show is irrelevant, but I happen to totally agree with Adam Finley, who by the way is one of the best contributers on this site. Revisiting the trials and tribulations of these women would be awesome if SJP disappears into another dimension at the beginning of the movie and everyone forgets about her and THEN and ONLY then will it be a semi-good movie, maybe. Just my opinion.

I would love to see how the ladies have been doing these past fews years, but only if it stays happy. I would like to see the movie handled like this.......they grow stronger and happy with their families yet continue to maintain a great friendship with one another. Lets face it when you marry and have kids it can become all consuming and friends fall to the way side. That is the angle I would like to see it from......Yes I want a sappy happy ending.
