Amaury Nolasco: In the Limelight

Prison BreakI don't know if it's the same for you, but I didn't know who Amaury Nolasco was before his break on Prison Break. Looking at his filmography on IMDb, I did watch him on the small screen in Early Edition and ER. I guess he had small roles which is why I didn't notice him. I also saw him in 2 Fast 2 Furious but since it's not my type of movie, I only half watched the thing.

But since Prison Break premiered on the FOX network, people recognize Nolasco more and more and he even landed a role in the upcoming Transformers movie.

Who is the man who also was named one of the 26 men to watch in 2004 by USA Today?Amaury Nolasco Garrido was born in Puerto Rico in 1970. Little known fact is that he studied biology at the University of Puerto Rico and intended to become a doctor, not an actor. But, as it is the case for a good number of actors, fate leads them to a different path. He was approached to appear in a television commercial and that led to other acting gigs. He eventually moved to New York City where he studied acting.

Before being cast as Sucre on Prison Break, Nolasco mostly guest starred in various TV series such as Arli$$, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, George Lopez and CSI: NY. At the movie, other than being cast opposite Paul Walker in 2 Fast 2 Furious, he starred in Mr. 3000 and Benchwarmers.

Nolasco plays now-on-the-run inmate Fernando Sucre on Prison Break. In Season 1, his character shared a cell with lead cast member Wentworth Miller. This role, especially during the first season, allowed Nolasco to make his mark on the small screen and show his range as an actor as some of his scenes were not easy to play. In the current season, his character his on the run and trying to settle down away from the cops with Maricruz, the love of his live.

Prison Break's season finale airs tonight at 8 PM / 7 PM Central, on FOX.
