This is worse than I even thought it would be. I saw the syndicated version on Comedy Network here in Canada. They changed songs and had the actors lines re-dubbed, not with the original cast but with voice actors though so it sounded strange.

But at least the episodes were intact. I remember the episode where they used 'Tiny Dancer' and the syndicated version had to replace that song and have the lines dubbed over again. Distracting but better than FOX's idea to cut scenes out on the DVD.

I'm a big WKRP fan but I'm not going to buy this unless it's on sale. Wonder what they're going to charge for this bastarized set?

That's terrible news. They seriously couldn't even give me those DVDs, much less ask me to pay for 'em.

I'm so disappointed I couldn't even get through the list.

When I hit how they are removing "Hot Blooded" I gave up. That was one of my favorite scenes of the etire series.

That's truly ugly. Reminds me of how excited I was about the "Greatest American Hero" DVDs until I found out they replaced "Eve of Destruction" in the best episode of the second season, which was absolutely critical to the plot. I hate the fact that there's a DVD set of a show I loved so much out there, but it won't ever be on my shelf. It's just not the show I watched--it's some kind of butchered mutant. I'm sure "WKRP" fans will feel that way, even more so.

Back then, they were more open to playing the music on the TV sitcoms. Now, you have to go through all kinds of channels to get the rights to play the songs. Some of these artists started so very young in the business and lost money. Now that they're in their 50s and 60s, they're thinking smart with saving it and not getting ripped off by younger business executives that want big bucks off these sitcoms on DVD. Some are very protective of their music fortunes. They did that to the Miami Vice DVD--they played different '80s songs in those episodes. Nobody wants to hear elevator or canned music in those shows--they want to hear the REAL thing!

They should release these shows without the soundtrack at all, and then put in a cue on the commentary track where someone explains when a certain song is supposed to be played. That way, the home user with video editing skillz can edit and mix in the song themselves. Better than nothing.

what is the point of releaseing it at all? some shows shud b remembered as they were not so botched it's not wrth watching the show was so gr8 and now its gonna b released all cut up and it's going 2 suck and the company thinks we r gonna pay $40bux 4 crap? we all have satellite dish and /or cable is that not enuff? it was bad enuff wen it went in 2 reruns and was edited we did not have 2 pay 2 watch it .if loni,gary sandy and the rest wont buy it y shud we? the music clips helped make teh show so good

Why produce this DVD at all. Without the ORIGINAL music the show will suck .... plain and simple. WKRP brings back fond memories of my youth and I want to remember the show the way it was. I'm willing to pay double maybe triple the price for WKRP as it should be. Can't these business executives figure out that the true WKRP fan will not buy this DVD set. Have evrything original and they'll make plenty of $$$$$$$$

Unbelievable, but not surprising. They stand to make less money after having paid higher amounts to use the original music. Without th e music, several episodes will not make sense - while the initial info about this box set was that "some" songs would be replaced, I did not imagine a way around Arthur's "Do you hear dogs barking?" to Johnny's "I do" with Pink Floyd in the background, I never imagined that the segment would be removed! They should be ashamed of themselves for this and the only appropriate response from the fans is to boycott it altogether. What they have to realize is that instead of only making millions for having secured the rights and putting the show out in the only acceptable format (unedited / unchanged), they will get nothing from people downloading lesser quality versions for nothing. It seems all these years of waiting for this have been in vain. Sad.
