Comedians, talking and doing stuff that's funny

comedy by the numbersHere's a little round-up of what some of your favorite comedic actors have been up to:

First of all, Bob Odenkirk and a few others have provided their comedy expertise to a new book from McSweeneys titled Comedy by the Numbers. The book breaks comedy down to its bare elements (see pic on the right) so that anyone can become a funny person. Despite the book's obvious tongue-in-cheek approach, I find it somewhat appropriate since I've often considered McSweeneys approach to humor to be a little too cold and clinical sometimes.

In Patton Oswalt news: he really likes Friday Night Lights, and he says so in this thread over at A Special Thing. His endorsement is probably good for the show, since band/art/theater geeks like myself who dig Oswalt's hip geekiness needed someone like him to convince us the show is actually worth watching. Oh yeah, and he likes to shoot guns and do yoga, but not all at once. Both of these Oswalt items came from CC Insider.

In David Koechner news: The Naked Trucker and T-Bones has finished its first season, but D.K. still has a lot to say. You can watch interviews with him over at G4 and Cracked. I also recommend listening to this old Sound of Young America interview with Koechner and Dave "Gruber" Allen, where the two men talk about how growing up in the Midwest helped to shape the comedic sensibility of the series.

If you're a fan of Late Night with Conan O'Brien, check out the behind-the-scenes blog from Aaron, who works in the research department.

Finally, this very funny and very NOT SAFE FOR WORK bit of audio hilarity from the comedy podcast A Complete Waste of Time. All I can say is: this person really likes Grey's Anatomy. Or they're just insane.
