Truckers, dinosaurs and the universe on the History Channel in '07 and '08

The first series, Ice Road Truckers, is a documentary series focusing on long haul truck drivers in northern North America who drive their rigs across frozen lakes and risk falling through the ice, therefore having to keep one hand on the door at all times in case they need to bail out. The series will focus both on the truckers and on the miners who rely on them. If you're into shows like Deadliest Catch on the Discovery, this show may also be right up your alley.

The Universe takes a look at, well, the universe, and asks whether or not there's life somewhere out there while also delving into what we know about the universe based on technological advances. While I'm always fascinated by anything having to do with science, it doesn't sound as if this series is going to delve into anything that hasn't already been covered elsewhere.

Tougher in Alaska, another series in development, looks at life in the 49th state, where harsh conditions and isolation means a whole different way of life for those who live there. Several years ago I almost took a job in Anchorage and have always been intrigued by Alaska. A friend recently returned from a trip there with pictures and video, and I have to say, it's an absolutely gorgeous state. I'll definitely be checking this series out.

Professional fighter and martial expert Jason Chambers will team up with former football player and wrestler Bill Duff as the two men travel the world to find martial arts experts in Human Weapon. The men will face off against these experts in every episode.

The first rule of Jurassic Fight Club? That's right: no outside food. Anyway, that's the name of yet another series, this one focusing on how dinosaurs waged battle against one another, and how their skills helped them either survive or die a horrible, brutal death. The series will look at new evidence that shows how dinosaurs fought one another in different environments, sometimes one on one, and sometimes in groups.
