Well, well, well. "Exposé" was a busy episode for the grim reaper. As usual, I will leave the details for after the jump, so stop reading if you have not seen the newest episode. Many players have shot ahead in the pool, and a few of you have used up all of your picks already. Impressive.
I should mention that there have been rumors that a character who was presumed dead may show up alive in a later episode. For any death pool standings to change, this "resurrection" will have to occur onscreen during Season Three. The character will have to be seen alive, in real time.
Now let's get to the updated standings!
As Nikki mentioned in her flashback, guest stars aren't known for their long lives. Nikki and Paulo went the way of Boone and Shannon, getting buried alive after being paralyzed by a poisonous spider. Each death is worth 19 points (five points for a correct pick, nine episode points, and five points for an awesome cause of death). This episode was worth a total of 38 death pool points.
33 of you picked Paulo to die, and earned 19 points: 1L, Alex, apocalypsepony, April, bbf203, Chris Wyant, Courtney, darcie dyan, Dorothy Evins, Ed W., Gregory Capobianco, Heather, Holli, Hubba, jks, Julie, Kat, Kelbellene, Lauren, Michael, Mrs. Mga, Nancy, Priscilla, RSL, Sam, Shenva79, Tracy, Trayton, ts, WadeK, and Will.
For some reason, only ten of you marked Nikki for death, and also earned 19 points: April, ck, Ed W., Kenneth Chong, Kristi Parry, Michael, PlusDrew, RedStarRevolution, Sam Fox, and ts. Special kudos to April, Ed W., Michael, and ts for picking both Nikki and Paulo--you earned 38 points this week!
The new standings are as follows: Chris Wyant is in first place with 61 points. April and ts are tied for second place with 59 points. The following people are in close behind with 40 points: Alex, bbf203, darciedyan, Gregory Capobianco, Holli, Hubba, jks, Kat, Kenneth Chong, Kristi Parry, Lauren, PlusDrew, Priscilla, RedStarRevolution, and Tracy. Ed W. and Michael join the leader board with 38 points.
BlackViking is next, with 34 points. The following people are still in the game with 21 points: Andrew, Brody, Craig, Dennis K, Diana, Don, Dustin, Gina, John S., Kris Clark, mgamark, michou2880, Morgan, nandy, Sam, Stephanie, Thomas Cushard, TuckerKatt, and TVblogger. The final group has just joined the game with 19 points: 1L, apocalypsepony, Courtney, Dorothy Evins, Heather, Julie, Kelbellene, Mrs. Mga, Nancy, RSL, Sam, Shenva79, Trayton, WadeK, and Will. Congratulations, everyone!
For April, Chris Wyant, and ts, there is good news and bad news. The good news is that you are three for three; all of your death pool picks were correct. The bad news is that you have no more picks left, and there are still plenty of episodes coming up. The possible Charlie death is still hanging over our heads, so who knows? Things could still get shaken up. For now, enjoy your places at the top. Razzle Dazzle!

Didn't Kristen or Ausiello (can't remember which) say there was only one death this week? While I'm not saying they aren't dead (2 tons of sand will do that to you), you would have assumed they would have already seen the advance copy. *shrug*
Wonder if we'll have a reversal if Nikki somehow crawls out :S

Last week Rodrigo Santoro was here in Brazil promoting his new movie "300", and said he is still filming Lost in Hawaii. So, unless he was lying, he's not yet dead.

There's no way Nikki and Paulo are dead. There's been quite a few spoilers saying that Paulo is going to die but not by being buried alive.

The woman who plays Nikki is joining another show so she may be dead (though I doubt it they killed them off too quick and neither has a recent DUI)

How is anyone "in the game" with 19 points? Isn't the absolute most they could come up with even if both of their other picks die spectaularly in the next episode, only 55, which is still behind the current leaders?

I was thinking the same as Josh Howard. If you get lesser points every week and you already had 3 out of 3, this game is over. People who had 3 right deaths out of 3 won, all the others will get less points because their deaths happened later in the season and they get less points or am I totally wrong about this? Is there some douple point rule?

Bash, I believe there's a rule that if you are the only to pick a particular character who dies you get bonus points.

I will reiterate what I said at the beginning, the scoring system never made sense to me. We all knew where the story was coming back after the break, and with the plentiful spoilers floating around online it wasn't hard to know/guess who would die in the first few post-break episodes. Those deaths should have been worth the least points. Predicting who would die in May was much harder since no spoilers were out and who the heck knew where the story was going, so the later episode deaths should be worth more. Also, as others have pointed out, the way it's set up the game more or less ends when someone hits 3 deaths. There's a slight chance for someone else to catch up with the 'cool death' and 'only person to pick' bonus points, but it's very slight.
I think this pool was a great idea by TVS but it would be much better if they put together a simple website with the standings. Only about 100 entries if I remember correctly. Wouldn't be that hard.
