What do you get when you combine Rosie O'Donnell, Donald Trump, Bill O'Reilly, Britney Spears, Anderson Cooper, Keith Olbermann, Geraldo Rivera, Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow and a cat? A satirical video lampooning the news judgment shown by many in the TV news industry.
Released last night during the Radio and TV Correspondents Association dinner -- yes the same one where presidential advisor Karl Rove pretended to be a hip-hop master -- the JibJab guys who created the hilarious 2004 campaign videos have now aimed their guns at the elite TV media personalities.
And hilarity ensues.
The video lampoons major TV news personalities, from the network anchors and chattering pundits on cable, to Rosie and Donald's ridiculous war of words. A caricature of the pre-rehab Spears even makes an appearance in a pantyless -- and censored via a cat -- state, mocking that that's what the TV power brokers call news.

They are right to make fun of how back the "news" is today. They are wrong to laud how great the "news" before cable.
It was no better, you just had fewer choices.

The video, technically, is well done. But funny? Seriously?
Heads up, though, for fans of this kind of cutting-edge humor, you might be able to still snag a Best of Mark Russell DVD at pbs.org.
