The much anticipated Grey's Anatomy spin-off got a working title. BuddyTV.com reveals the the Addison-centric show will be titled Private Practice. The title, revealed by ABC during a media buyers event, is quite fitting the new series as Private Practice will revolve around various doctors, including Addison, working at a wellness center in Los Angeles. ABC says that the title is not set in stone (it's a working title) and they could change it at any time.Even if ABC is advertising episodes 3.22 and 3.23 of Grey's Anatomy as "the potential Addison spin-off," it is almost a given that it will become a series on its own as it will surely attract many viewers not only because it's a Grey's spin-off but also because of its cast: Kate Walsh, Tim Daly, Taye Diggs, Merrin Dungey, Amy Brenneman, Paul Adelstein and Chris Lowell. Yes, some of these have been part of many series that have failed to get renewals (Diggs was part of ABC's Day Break, and Daly was the lead of Eyes and The Nine), but all should help attract viewers.
The two-hour spin-off episode will air in May.

I'm sure it will get a lot of viewers, but can the networks at some point branch out from the the doctor, lawyer, police dramas? I think that's what makes Lost and Heroes so good. They're shows that actually have an original concept.

I know that getting all those talented and semi-talented actors will certainly bring in the viewers, but only the writers can breathe enough life into any show to the point where the viewers want to stick around.
Let's hope there's something more to this than DesperateDoctors 2.0

"all should help attract viewers"
Actually, if Brenneman has a major role it almost guarantees I won't watch, no matter how much I like Kate Walsh.

I like the idea of this show, and not because of Daly, Diggs, or any of the rest. For me, it's all Shonda Rhimes and Kate Walsh, that's all you need.
The rest of the cast will draw the viewers in, but like Grey's which had an unknown to semi-unknown cast when it opened, what will keep those viewers is the kind of magic dramedy that Shonda creates every Thursday.
I just hope she devotes enough time to this project to make it a success, but doesn't abandon Grey's to the point it suffers either. Ms. Rhimes has a lot on her plate right now, lets hope she can manage it all.

Merring Dungey was previously part of the ABC family as well as Diggs and Daly, playing Francie on the cult-hit/ratings-challenged "Alias".

I'm a big fan of Kate Walsh. But I'm just not sure how this is going to play out. To have Addison leave Seattle Grace and work with a bunch of new doctors... it's difficult for me to imagine and/or accept.
The name "Private Practice" doesn't really do anything for me. Makes the show sound pretty boring, actually. And the premise doesn't sound that exciting, either.
I'm afraid this isn't going to last very long. But for the sake of Kate Walsh and Shonda Rhimes, I'll give it a chance.

Private Practice sounds like some corny '80s syndicated medical show.

Addison's my favorite Grey's character but will she leave SGH in order to do the spinoff? I wouldn't like her to leave Grey's Anatomy...
Does anyone know how I will be able to see the new series? I live in Holland - methinks it will take a while before (if at all) they broadcast it over here...

Kate Walsh is a strong enough actress to handle this spin-off. I only hope her new cast mates will deliver performances as solidly as the original Grey's cast does.

I'm sorry but Private Practice(the sin off) isn't going to work out...or at least it shouldn't. Grey's Anatomy would have been a great episode by itself but the cheesiness of Private Practice took over. We want the good ol' Grey's Anatomy back...Just Grey's Anatomy!

So we are watching this stupid spin off right now and it sucks. All we wanted was to watch some Grey's but instead we got this crappy spin off. I hope this show doesn't take off so Addison will stay on Grey's. Boooooooo! Stop talking to elevators, stereotyping LA and GO BACK TO SEATTLE!

I actually ended up turning off my FAVORITE show last night b/c I was very dissapointed! I didn't enjoy the "added" show and I felt like I was watching something completely different! Why can't they just leave well enough alone! Grey's rocks-don't try to copy it! Like someone else has said about it-they tried to "spin-off" Friends and that CRASHED AND BURNED!!

I was so glad to see Amy Brenneman on the spinoff. I loved her on Judging Amy, and was disappointed when her program was cancelled. I thought she was great, and she still is great on -- whatever it ends up -- Private Practice. Even if the spinoff doesn't work, the writers should incorporate a prominent and permanent role for Amy Brenneman in Grey's Anatomy.

I have to say I wanted to love "Private Practice", but I was very disappointed! Addison was such a wonderful character on Grey's and then to suddenly change before our eyes into a weak misdirected soul, was hard to watch!
The show and the actors seemed very uncomfortable with each other...I didn't want to invest the time to try and get to know them. Where Gray's seems to have such a variety of character's, this show was nothing short of boring. All that writing talent, and all they could come up with was a pregnant woman with the stupidest story line I have ever seen? A surfer boy, that most wouldn't look twice at, and a medical setting that seemed more like a place you'd go to have your taxes done.
Stop now before Addison is ruined and put her back in Seattle.
