I wouldn't be too quick to assign Lost's decline in viewers to the 13 week gap; the show's quality has plummeted this season, with countless episodes that do nothing to move the story forward, poorly-written flashbacks, and enough red herrings to fill a hatch which will be discovered and destroyed.

I'm just one of the viewers who gave up on the show, but it wasn't because of the break, it was because the show I loved in season one and occasionally enjoyed in season two turned into something entirely different in season three.

Sounds like Naveen might not want to be on the show much longer...maybe a death in the works?

I might be partial to this outcome, as while I think Sayid is a great character, it seems as if his story has been told.

Also, I have him in the Lost Death Pool, but we'll leave that aside...

It's very dumb for network to do this whole "split season" schedule. Look at Commander In Chief, it was one of the most highest rated shows on Thursdays before they did a split season. Then it got canceled because of ABC's genius scheduling.

I'd much rather wait longer for the premiere and have a non-stop run than what they did this year. I'd even prefer it over the currently all-too-common practice of: "Show a few new episodes, then a few reruns, repeat until the viewers get pissed."

From a standpoint of personal preference, I'd like to see more Sayid...and Locke, Hurley, Jin and Sun. I still like Sawyer/James, but I'm tired of Jack and Kate.

They need to make the season longer, as in do 10+ more shows per season, that way they don't need to split the season or start in January. TV season starts in September NOT January!

Then you've missed out on the last, what, four great episodes Wil. Sure it went through a slump with the 6 episodes of season 1A, but dammit if they haven't been hitting 'em outta the park since they came back.

The last half-dozen episodes have been as good as any in the whole first three seasons.

I wonder if the flashback format will have to adjust if the show runs more than one more season. The back stories on Jack, Locke, Sayid and Kate have all pretty well played out.

I would support a move to a later start date as long as S04 was completely uninterrupted. Hell, we've waited forever for The Sopranos to return and they've had the weirdest start dates. If it is a quality show, you will have an audience.

The thing is, I expect to be entertained from September-May. I can handle 3 weeks in between each new episode when it's not sweeps (isn't that how MOST SHOWS on network TV do it?); what I can't handle, or at least what causes me to become disenchanted, is going months and months without ANYTHING new to discuss about this show at al.

Well Darren and Televinita, the face of television is changing.

When you have a show that is so tied to previous episodes (just like Lost and 24) you can't have such huge gaps in the storytelling. Lost Season 2 would have been alot more successful if it actually ran together with no breaks.

If you need to do breaks in a serialized drama, do it with an equal amount of time on and off. In the off time, show the exact same episodes again in the proper order.

I'd love to see both Lost and Heroes follow 24's lead and start in January. I just wish that 24 or Heroes would move to Tuesday so that we'd have a solid TV every night. 24 on Monday, Heroes on Tuesday, Lost on Wednesday, EarlOfficeScrubs30Rock on Thursday.
