Gwen Stefani will be coaching Idol's Top 10 finalists for next week's "pop-themed" performances. The Hollaback Girl will also sing "The Sweet Escape" with Akon on Wednesday's live results show. A "pop-themed" week seems to be a fairly broad catergory, so it will be interesting to see what songs the contestants choose. Reportedly, they will be singing their "favorite songs from that genre." I wonder if this means they will sing pop tunes from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, or go with something more contemporary. As always, it is important that they select their songs wisely, and give memorable performances.
The Top 10 perform live on Tuesday, March 27 (8:00-9:07 PM ET). Please note that American Idol is extending the episode by seven minutes in order to squeeze in all of the performances. House will follow Idol in its entirety. Set your TIVOs accordingly.

I can't wait to see Gwen Stefani mentor the idols. It will be fun to see what songs the contestants pick and what hairstyle Sanjaya sports! :) :)

Get Sanjaya off the show. He can't sing worth shit and good talent is at stake. The longer he is on, the more chances we take of a potential star getting the boot. What is it with people anyway? Who the hell would vote for him? This is a SINGING competion!!!!

Sorry guys --you lost a fan. Sanjaya should have gone a very long time ago -- if I were given tickets to the tour -- I wouldn't go. What gives here. I won't watch no more -- enough is enough. Send him back to Sesame Street. I'm done watching. Spk up Simon.

I completely agree with each one of your comments about Sanjaya, although I do still watch the show. Every one of the people voted off of the show so far are better singers than Sanjaya. I started getting upset when Sundance was booted and ever since then it's gotten even worse.

Folks are voting for folks that shouldn't make it, because they feel that the best were not picked to go on IDOL. I think we should vote for the best, that are there, forget about trying to get the show thrown off the air.

They should have a Broadway week and have each contestant sing a tune from a show .... picked out by the mentor for the week Rosie O'Donnell ... she could pick her favorite tunes and assign them to the contestant that best fits the song. She loves Idiol and she loves Broadway! She would be like a crazed fan while trying to mentor the contestants.

All IDOL fans should vote for the best singer, and, quit trying to get IDOL thrown off the air. I really enjoy the show. It is not the singer's fault that the best were not picked to go on as a finalist this time.

Tricia, I do not vote for the "best singer". I vote for the person who I am most likely to purchase music from. For me that is Haley. Gina is my 2nd choice.
I agree with you though that malcontents like VoteForTheWorst.com and that loser Howard Stern have made this a mockery and have done much financial damage to talents like Stephanie Edwards.
I wonder if she can sue VoteForTheWorst.com for damages. After all, that site did cost her last week.
