Star Trek fans rejoice! iTunes is offering Star Trek: The Original Series for download... again. As reported by The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW), TOS episodes were first offered to download in January but mysteriously disappeared in a black hole. After months of traveling through space and time, the boldly crew of the original Star Trek series has made its way back to us and episodes are back on iTunes.Trekkies will be happy to know that episodes of Season 1 are offered in both original and enhanced formats. However, as TUAW reports, some iTunes users reported that enhanced episodes have made their way into the original collection. Let's hope iTunes will soon clear that up so purists can download the original episodes as they were meant to be watched.
Heed the call and go download the series that started the phenomenon!

I've actually found the "enhanced" episodes as they are currently running on the local CW affiliate to be very nice.
Unlike the Star Wars re-do, the style and use of new FX/CG work is very well blended into the show, and doesn't feel jarring.

Throw in my vote for the greatness of the enhanced episodes. The FX company has gone to great care imo to not tarnish the original, only make it seem more believable. Unlike Star Wars where too much was changed (I am looking at you Jabba Dance number) and Lucas tried to add more to every scene possible.
