This is either big news for game show fans or much to do about nothing.
The show sent out a note this week that promises something major is going to happen on the show tomorrow (Friday) that has never happened on the show before:
"This Friday, March 16, 2007...for the first time in 23 years, Jeopardy history will be made...it was such a remarkable event we consulted a game theory expert, and he said it may never happen again!"
OK, now they have me curious, and since they mention game theory, I think I've narrowed it down to three possible events.
1. All three players end up in a tie. And if that has happened on the show before, maybe it's a tie with zero points?
2. Before "Final Jeopardy" can even start, two of the players are knocked out, which means they don't even have to do Final Jeopardy.
3. Alex Trebek takes off all of his clothes and runs around the studio screaming, "I love lettuce! I love lettuce!"
Readers, your guesses?
UPDATE: And for those of you wondering. Here's what happened.

I really wish I COULD watch Jeopardy this Friday, but in our area it is being pre-empted for March Madness....as if I wasn't upset about it enough already....
I hope you will post and let us know what all the hullaballoo is about!

Two negative scores would be more of an incompetence thing than any question of game theory. A three way tie, or someone winning with $1 are the the two things that spring to mind.

First thing that came to my mind was a tie at some crazy number.
Two would be great, I would love if that happened!

There once was a two way tie and the third was off by one dollar. They were chastised for not betting it all.

The video wall falls and crushes Trebek? (Hey, in theory it could only happen once!)

I'm pretty sure they've had two negative scores before. I seem to remember all three players not qualifying for Final Jeopardy as well.
My guess: over the course of the half-hour, in defiance of game theory experts, Trebek will grow his mustache back.

As I have said elsewhere, I think it will be because on Wednesday’s Final Answer, they got it wrong and it caused the then current Jeopardy champion to lose. The answer was in regards (and I am paraphrasing) to the two most recent U.S. Presidents to have only one child, with the hint that they were in the 20th century. Jeopardy said the correct answer was Clinton and Truman, totally skipping over Carter. The then current champ said Clinton and Carter and was told she was wrong, and lost, while a challenger said (if I remember correctly) Clinton and Nixon, and although the wrong answer, still won because he ended up with the larger amount left. At the end of the show, when they are all standing there talking to Alex, she (the former champ) didn’t look too happy.

someone answers all of the questions right. plus all of the dialy doubles come at the end of each round and are made a true daily double. so that person would win the most amount of money that is possible to win on the show.

I agree with mscammj: one of the contestants will answer every question correctly. Or maybe none of the contestants will get a question wrong!

My schedule shows NCAA basketball is pre-empting CBS all day! I haven't watched Jeopardy in years but want to set my DVR to record this. What gives?

"much to do about nothing" What a wonderful concoction. I'm going to steal that. (And this answers the question I've been pondering as to whether anybody edits the copy here.)

Jimmy Carter had four children, so that would not be correct.

Sorry Rick, check any source, in my case http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/presidents/jc39.html
"Upon graduation in 1946 from the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, Carter married Rosalynn Smith. The Carters have three sons, John William (Jack), James Earl III (Chip), Donnel Jeffrey (Jeff), and a daughter, Amy Lynn."
