addiction projectHBO is doing a multi-platform launch for The Addiction Project, which will focus on various addictions as a treatable brain disease. The 14-part documentary Addiction premieres tonight at 9:00 p.m., which also happened to coincide with HBO's free weekend preview that runs through this Sunday, so you may be able to catch it even if you don't normally receive HBO.

In addition, Lost Remote writes that all fourteen parts will be made available online for free, so keep an eye on the official site.

Documentaries that will air on HBO2, also as part of The Addiction Project, include:

  • TV Junkie (March 16): The story of TV journalist and cocaine addict Rick Kirkham.
  • Cracked Not Broken (March 17): The story of Lisa, a woman who turns to prostitution to help feed her crack addiction.
  • Montana Meth (March 18): Montana has the second largest meth problem in the United States, according to the synopsis of the this documentary, which will delve into the problem and how it affects lives.
  • A Revolving Door (March 18): I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume mental illness and drug addiction isn't a good mix. This documentary focuses on Tommy Lennon, who indeed struggles with both of these problems, possibly spurred by a head injury he sustained during a surfing accident.
