Painkiller Jane, SciFi's new series based on the comic by Jimmy Palmiotti and Joe Quesada, will premiere April 13 at 10:00 p.m. The series will focus on the titular character (played by Kristanna Loken) a woman who can regenerate from any injury, but still feels pain. She hunts Neuros, humans with super-mental powers, for a secret agency.
Palmiotti, who is writing at least one episode and directing another, says the series will differ somewhat from the comic book, and that each episode will be self-contained, although a larger story arc will be present throughout the series. Twenty-two episodes of the series were ordered last fall.
I like the "self-contained" episode idea, as it makes it possible for people to enjoy it who might not have been watching from the beginning.
You can check out the series' Web site here.

I'm sort of looking forward to the show but I'm a bit dissapointed that they chose Loken. Her acting abilities aren't very solid. She was okay in Terminator 3 in which she didn't have that many lines but she was on the L word recently and her acting was wooden to say the least.

I agree with gooby on both counts: I too am looking forward to this series and Loken's acting leaves much to be desired. However, she can pull off the physicality of the role and the acting can be overlooked with an interesting plot and good actors surrounding her. I'd never heard of the Painkiller Jane comic books and the TV movie Sci-Fi aired last year was less than spectacular, but what clips I've seen of the series so far shows something promising. Here's hoping they don't ruin it like they did with The Dresden Files.

You should watch her in the miniseries "Ring of the Nibelungs" [released in US under name Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King]. She was great there!!!
