ABC may have revealed too much in its weekly Lost sneak preview video. The main page on Lost's website currently shows a clip from this week's episode, "Par Avion." The clip, and more detailed discussion of the preview, will appear after the jump.
Generally speaking, the clip features a conversation between Kate and Mikhail, the man that Locke, Kate, and Sayid encountered in "Enter 77." Mikhail reveals information that some viewers have been debating about for quite a while. I would hesitate to call the information a major spoiler, but it is far juicier than anything ABC usually includes in its sneak peeks. Stop reading now if you do not want to be spoiled for "Par Avion."
Special thanks to BuddyTV for the clip. As you can see, Mikhail makes it clear that Ben Linus is not the leader of the Others. Many fans have wondered if Jacob, the man mentioned in "I Do" and "Not in Portland," is the true leader. This seems like a significant detail to give out before the episode has even aired, but is it a spoiler? Another interesting bit of information from the clip is that Mikhail (and the Others) apparently know that Locke used to be paralyzed. I am curious to see if this knowledge gets out in the open anytime soon.
If one of the spoilers for "Par Avion" turns out to be true, the truth about the Others' hierarchy might seem like small potatoes once the episode airs. Still, it is surprising that ABC's sneak peeks would be so forthcoming. Usually the clips are fairly bland teasers. Did ABC give away a major plot point? Feel free to discuss in the comments below.

So what. They apparently know more than just names before and simply having a guy at the airport would have been enough to find out that Locke was going on the plane in his wheelchair.
Other datails were far more revealing. They knew so much about Jack and his marriage. That was interesting, not that Locke was paralyzed. Hell even if they just got the list of passengers they could have gotten that info right there, Locke would've been marked disabled there.

No, I don't think so. It's well into the third season and we still don't know much about who the Others are. I think we deserve something by now. If you think about it, how much more do we know about why anyone is on the island since the 1st season...Zilch!

that doesn't mean that Ben isn't the leader of the Others on the island. i think he was referring to the same man that Ben referred to back in his Henry Gale days in the hatch. clearly there is someone in the organization that is higher than Ben. however, it seems pretty clear that Ben probably either oversees certain aspects of the activities of the Others or he is sort of the manager of the group on the island. we know from the "Not in Portland" episode that the Others are linked to the outside world and may not be seperate from Dharma at all. (Ethan was involved in recruiting Juliette.)

I wonder why..Jack (and the other prisioners)have spent significant time in captive by "the others". In particular Jack has had significant interaction with them..but not one single time asked the questions: What are you doing on the island? Why are you here? Where are we??
It is just bizzare at this point..

i wouldn't classify this as a spoiler. all it tells us is that the others have all done the same homework on the survivors, which we already knew. however i would count abc's post-episode teaser as a spoiler, which hints at mikhail's death when he runs into the 'alarm system.'
the abc marketing machine is beginning to irritate me with it's 'heroes' style episode hype that ultimately has nothing to do with the actual episodes being shown. i can't wait to watch 'lost' season 3 on dvd, in an unbroken, hype-free stream.

Eric, more simply, why no one says "why don't you send us back to Australia or any main land?"
No reason had been given or hinted at for the Others wanting, or needing, to keep people who have lives and, for a few, loved ones probably mourning them.
The whole thing makes no sense.
The Losties have no purpose on the island for the Others save blowing shit up and getting themselves capture/killed.
It's just stupid all around. Worse, it is not nearly as entertaining as it is maddening.

What's so frustrating is, yet again, a key point of dialogue is cut off by someone else interrupting. First there was the scene with Jack asking:
"why don't you just leave the island?"
"well ever since the sky turned purple we..."
and then here with Mikhail being interrupted at what he was going to say about Locke:
"the John Lock I know was para..."
All these people interrupting...so rude.

Danielle is up to something. She leaves when they get to the Flame station. She's interrupting Mikhail right when he's about to reveal to them Locke's paralysis, which may be an important fact for reasons we don't know.
I think Rousso is an other. Just a feeling I've had since we met here way back when and it keeps growing.

Enough of the drip drip drip of reveals about the show.
Let's see these episodes rock. This season has been all over the place.
End of rant. Now back to the speculation.

You're assuming he was going to say "paralyzed". He could have been going to say "paranormal" or "paratrooper infantryman" or "parasitic".

I am hoping that the ratings dip has put some pressure on the producers to start making sense of things.
Last week's episode scored a 7.6/12 -- which is decent for that time slot -- but the ratings have not recovered from the slide that started the middle of last season.
ABC doesn't want to lose one of its tent pole shows because people finally gave up for not knowing what the hell is going on.
I think we'll know a lot by the end of this season, and I would not be too surprised if ABC announced during up-fronts in May how many more seasons Lost will run.

Patchy said that the true leader is a "magnificient man?" Then he told Kate that they were not on the list because "they are flawed..because they are angry and weak." What list? A list of people that overcame their flaws and were allowed to leave the island? The people who have died on the island, are they really dead or just promoted to where they came from? It seems that if the answers to these puzzles were given, there would be little reason to keep watching. In fact, I believe that when the Lost puzzle is solved, many will be disappointed that they watched for so long to only discover a ridiculous ending.

I love LOST and will watch it until the very last show. I just wish they would return and stick with the original characters. There is so much more to explore and learn about the originals, so many unanswered questions.

...When did Jacks Dad start his drinking, or Why did he feel the need to drink, Guilt? Why was Jacks Dads body missing from the casket first season? One of my suspicions is that Jacks Dad was somehow connected to the Dharma group... we shall see...The flashback last night brings Christian back into play more then ever.
