I'm surprised it took this long for Fox News to decide that Sarah Silverman may have crossed a line. In case you missed Wednesday night's season finale of The Sarah Silverman Program, you may not be aware that A) God is black and B) Sarah had sex with him. Sample dialogue from their throes of passion: "Who made you, monkey? Who created you?" Following their one night stand, Sarah brushed God, played by director Tucker Smallwood, off. (You can watch the clip here.)The next day conservative website WorldNetDaily had picked up on the story and some negative comments posted at Comedy Central's website. This was, in turn, picked up by Fox News and Newsbusters, a site dedicated to eradicating the liberal bias in media. Yes, chances are, if you can't take the content of South Park or Family Guy, you probably won't be able to stomach Sarah Silverman's sense of humor. There's your barometer. Install a V-Chip, change the channel, cancel your cable subscription, but don't take away Sarah's right to hump and be humped by the deity of her choice.

She may have really screwed God, or at least the Devil to get the fame she getting now. At least screwing Jikky Kimmel is getting her a TV show.
The bitch should be working at a Starbucks, SHE HAS NO TALENT!

Considering that one popular mainstream religion has its adherents symbolically eat the body and drink the blood of its lord/savior, I have no particular problem with this. Silverman showed her god a rockin' good time, and if she did devour him, I'm sure it was in a good way.

Ironic moment from the Fox Story:
"The program aired Wednesday after the season premiere of 'South Park,' which poked fun at America's obsession with the use of the n-word.
Silverman, who dates ABC late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel, garnered attention in 2001 for her controversial use of the word 'chink' in a joke on 'Late Night With Conan O'Brien.'"

I didn't see the show, but only because I don't find Silverman funny, but I think South Park is side-splittingly hilarious. The contentious segment, which I only read about, sounds like something I would find tasteless, disgusting, offensive and totally un-funny. However, I did manage to muster up enough brain cells to figure out I don't have to watch and that my remote has both channel buttons and an on/off button.
If I expected, and subsequently got, every show I found offensive, uninteresting, unfunny, etc. to be removed from the air there'd be very little left and it would leave tons of people without entertainment choices they'd prefer. I mean, the American Idol fans alone would lynch me!
I can agree with the sentiment of most of the opposing voices with regards to the offensiveness of that particular segment of Silverman's show, but I can't get behind the whole censorship angle. If enough people who watch her show are offended and stop watching, the show will go away. That's how a free country is supposed to work.
Besides, God could do *MUCH* better than Silverman! :o)
So Julia, I think your "barometer" reference is way off. You apparently can't comprehend that some of us can love South Park, but hate Silverman. You should try to be more open-minded.

Look, cable tv presents a wide variety of channels these days people. If you dont like what you see on The Sarah Silverman Program then CHANGE THE DAMN CHANNEL. Its as simple as that. Its not rocket science. If you have fingers or even toes for that matter then you dont have to watch her show if you find it appaling or offensive. Turn on TBN and calm down.

Granted without the offensiveness Miss Silverman would be just one more talentless Hollywood whore. BUT, I don't approve of censorship and Ms. Silverman is quite savvy in keeping her name in the media. I am reminded of the late, great Tallulah Bankhead who once said (and I paraphrase) "I don't care what you say about me dahling, just get my name right".

Something tells me Sarah Silverman is loving this. I enjoy most of her show, but I didn't find this sequence especially funny. It was, however, obviously designed to shock you, and if people are this upset about it, it worked pretty well.
But hey I wonder if she had slept with a white god if it would've been less of a big deal. Cause you know what a taboo interracial deity sex is.

I just want to say, i have watched parts of her show and rarely did i find her material funny. She uses controversy to fuel her show, and there is nothing wrong with that but she has no talent.
On the god thing. Are you serious? Who cares WHAT colour she made god, and so what if she "slept" with him? I think people have more of a problem with the fact that it's a black man. I bet anything if he looked like the fake pictures of Jesus people wouldnt have such a hard time. And well there you have it. She did what she knew would bring her more publicity and piss off the bible thumpers and bigots. HA (actually that IS funny)

The real problem with most of these movie/tv/music/book/etc complaints is that most of them come from people who didn't watch/listen/read that "offensive" item. So simply changing the channel is not an option for them, they didn't see it in the first place. For them, the fact that they could be offended by something means it should not exist.

I hate how the media and the writers of television shows and movies just blow each other all the time. If it weren't for "offensive" shows, there'd be nothing to report on with indignation. And without the angry reports, these shows wouldn't get the inflated ratings of people watching out of curiousity or to get angry. So each needs the other to survive. And the public just eats up every controversy with a spoon. "Ooh, who is Rosie feuding with now? Fox? Trump? American Idol?"
Both sides are getting exactly what they want: our attention (aka: ratings).

ah, the regular TVSquad "bash Fox News moment".
I've watched her show and took it off season pass. I love that type of Farrely Bros humor, but her show just wasn't all that funny.
As for TVSquad's mantra that we should change the channel if we don't like what we're viewing, why don't you follow your advice? Don't watch Fox News. Stick to the hatred being spewed by Olbermann on MSNBC.
If she was really so daring, she would have slept with Allah. Then she could be mentioned in the same breath as South Park. Taking cheap shots at Christians really isn't so risky. It's pathetic.

Not a Sarah Silverman fan to begin with, however, if she wants to make tasteless, unfunny programming, why stop her, I mean she wouldn't be the first and she won't be the last. Anyway, that is what a REMOTE CONTROL is for, you don't like it just don't watch it, she'll go away soon enough:o)

The real funny part is that an abreviated version of this clip has been run fairly regularly in commercials since before the show even aired. If these people are really so offended why do they only bring it up now, after the fact? If these people were really hoping for change they should have tried to stop the episode, or at least gotten sponsors to pull their ads. All these people really want is to get attention for themselves by picking an target to complain about.

Lots of Sarah hate. I've been a fan for a long time and I've seen her do stand up probably 6-7 times. She kills everytime. Guess some people don't dig on people that mock our society. Shrug.
Haven't seen her show - I've got my 5 tivoed shows and that's enough. I'll catch this on DVD. Doubt very much I'll be offended; really not much can offend me.

Man, how many people actually WATCHED the SS program? I was thoroughly bored by "Jesus is Magic" but this show is hysterical. My somewhat humor impaired wife loves the show as do I. I also love South Park but let's face it, subtlety is not the show's strong point.
I think The SS Program is as funny AND smart as shows such as Arrested Development/Mr. Show/Curb Your Enthusiasm.
BTW, I am fairly conservative. Had the SS show mocking AIDS awareness had a higher profile I'm certain, those people would be all bent out of shape as well. There are humorless people on the left and the right.

I actually saw the episode and my reaction during the show was "I don't care about race, God can be whomever you want" but then during the 'let's get it on' sequence, my thoughts became, "Oh here we go, the you know what is going to hit the you know what..." Which proves my point controversy drives ratings...
