American Idol has attained their juggernaut status by belittling and bullying dreamers all across this nation. Now Idol is throwing their weight around by attacking the media that helped to make the show such a big star in the first place. Doesn't it seem that American Idol producers cannot take what they dish out?
So its OK for American Idol to send a countless number of people home crying every season, but its not OK for Rosie O'Donnell to say a bad word about a seemingly hypocritical situation? So now their rights to cover clips of your show on The View are taken away? Barbara didn't look so happy, but she also looked like there was nothing she could do.
Wow...One thing you were able to do was humble Ms. O'Donnell and the women of The View. That is no small feat. I am actually afraid to type anything else before I make you mad and take away my little clips too! I will say that compared to what the producers have done with Rosie, they are making Simon look like a pussycat! Here is a TV's Top 5! clip of Simon saying something really nice to tone deaf sex kitten Antonella.
If this is your way of making your season exciting, I can understand that. Maybe next time you can try to let some other real talent into Hollywood, so you wouldn't have to get so upset if someone calls you out on your contradictions.

Elizabeth, if the media is so bored of this, why are they all over this "feud"? More importantly, why are you, a member of the media, posting a second item about this in the past three hours?
AI is right to respond and stick up for their franchise. This is the second time this season that that loud mouth on the view attacked their show. Babs should be worried about her franchise and the damage this "woman" is doing to it.
Good for AI. Shame on you Elizabeth Chan. You're pretty off the reservation here.

Yeah, as much as I hate the judges (mostly Simon, but the other two are learning bad behavior from him) being so needlessly cruel and bullying the contestants, I also hate this recent Rosie scandal.
The Antonella thing is not the same as the Frenchie thing, and no amount of mainstream media pissing and moaning will make it so.

AI has so jumped the shark this season its hard to know where to begin.
The first tell-tale signs began during auditions, when the producers decided to add more talentless singers, except that instead of adding those who really thought they could sing but couldn't, they added outright nutcases and borderline mentally challenged people. Real funny.
Because they messed with a working formula, more spotlight was aimed on how many talented singers get passed over as the producers look for an interesting back story to highlight the reality storyline instead of giving us the best singers.
This is obvious with the weak line-up this season bring us. With the exception of LaKisha, Melinda (my personal fave to win), and maybe Blake, the rest are a snoozefest, even somewhat talented Chris S and R, and Stephanie. What a let down after last season's stellar line-up.
Now, in order to take the spotlight off their own ineptitude when it comes to picking diverse and interesting singers, they try to throw Rosie under a bus - what the hell, it's become every bombing celebrity pass-time (Hello, Donald Trump). While I do not agree with Rosie that AI is racist, I believe she is right that their hipocrisy is stunning. Antonella Barba does not come off well on that stage. One can feel bad because she did not do anything wrong, and she herself cannot be blamed for the increasing idiocy of AI producer decisions.
The powers that be at AI should quit trying to throw their muscle around. Own up to the fact that you dug your heels in on an indefensible double standard and rectify it. Did you think no one would notice and say anything? Quit trying to shoot the messenger.
It looks like everyone connected with the show this season forgot not to fix a formula that worked.

Gee, Smiley, you forgot to say "Na-na-nana-na."
You're so angry with a writer's point of view that the only comeback you have is to call her a lesbian?
Talk about misplaced - and you your case we can add, stupid, comments.

AI producers: If you are going to produce a show where you critique people you're going to need to be able to accept a critique of your own show. Perhaps they could take a lesson from their own contestants --- after the bad things are said look into the camera, smile, and hope you come back next week.

First off it was Rossie who started the whole thing by making unfounded statements about AI. Simmon always seems to be very on the ball with his statements. (And I LOVE Rossie!!!)
Second, AI has changed their view on the VIEW..wink...they WILL infact be given clips.

On what plane of reality is this a hypocritical situation? Barba - as much as I cannot STAND her - took pics that were PRIVATE and stolen/leaked.
Frenchie got paid to post naked for a porn site called 'Daddy's Little Girls."
There is a HUGE difference, and Idol has every right to stop doing business with a show that employs an idiot who doesn't know when to shut her ignorant pie-hole. Rosie and her never-ended cesspool of a mouth should die in a fire. Metaphorically speaking, of course.

They said on The View today that AI will now let them show clips again. But they didn't show any and bashed the show as usual - which, of course, is great publicity. Apparently AI figured that out overnight. LOL

I used to look forward to seeing AI but not anymore. What is the point. The talent is so boreing and Not star quality it is not worth my time. It is a waste of TV time. Melinda deserves a shot. She is the only one that might stand a chance after the season ends.

There is nothing wrong with AI. Every year the same complaints. Simon is too mean, Paula is too soft and the dawg is, well, the dawg. Anything that is so successful always has the most criticism. I love every season for what makes it different. This is what it is. Yes, the best singer may not always win, but that is what makes it interesting.Remember, if you are even in the top 12 and you have talent, you have been given a huge break and will be successful if you go with it. And Rosie needs to get her facts before she spouts off.

I believe the reason AI is flush with mediocre talent this season is the push to vote for the worst idol and not the best idol. We have begun to see the best and worst singers moving on and the one's stuck in the middle being sent home too early. How many folks will pony up good money to go see these twelve in concert next season? I believe the home audience vote should only count for 30% and maybe have a panel of industry folks as well as the judges all fact their votes in as well.

I think that American Idol is very protective of their product and the aspiring singers that perform on it. They need to be taking this criticism left and right. It's just that this year hasn't produced the best singers. The girls sound much better than the guys and the Sanjaya flap is going to affect them a lot. It's really going to be hard to top last year, when a diverse mix of singers singing from every genre competed.
