Idol responds to Rosie's accusations of racism and weightism

Rosie O'DonnellRosie O'Donnell weighed in on the Frenchie/Antonella controversy this week on The View. Like other critics, Rosie accused Idol of being "racist" and "weightist" in their decision to disqualify Frenchie for racy photos, while basically ignoring Antonella's sexy pics.

In a written statement, Idol Excutive Producer Nigel Lythgoe called Rosie's claims of racism and weightism "absurd and ridiculous."

Lythgoe also said, "Ms. O'Donnell has, once again, spoken without thought or knowledge. Viewers need only look at the show tonight to realize that American Idol constantly confirms to America that talent has nothing to do with weight or color."

Since joining The View, Rosie has started quite a few celebrity feuds, and this is not the first time she's attacked American Idol. In January, outraged by the judges' cruelty, she accused Paula Abdul of being drunk on the air.

FOX is apparently so fed up with Rosie's bashing they will no longer allow her to play Idol video clips on The View. Barbara Walters told Rosie, "You don't insult them with your left hand and ask for favors with your right." Joy Behar suggested putting a disclaimer on the TV screen warning, "Rosie's views are Rosie's."

How many more public feuds does Rosie have to start before Barbara Walters finally muzzles her? I guess as long as ratings continue to rise at The View, Rosie is safe to say whatever she wants.
